That's interesting, when George opened for him on tour last year, he was frustrated that YJM was taking 2 - 3 hour soundchecks and he was barely gettting 10 minutes.

Hey BigShred, JJ here (yes, the guy who started this sily little topic). You have brought up a very interesting point which has gone almost completely unsaid here.
Virtually every great shred guitarist (including Vai, Satriani, Gilbert, Becker, Friedman, Petrucci, Moore, Macalpine, Kotzen, Howe, Tafolla, Lynch etc.) have stated publicly in interviews that that like Yngwie, indeed that they admire and respect him as a guitarist. Not one of them ever said that they hate the guy, for any reason whatsoever. And these are his peers in the guitar world.
No, it seems that only the unknown, no-name guitarists out there say they hate Yngwie, for whatever reason. Think about it: Why is it that the vast majority of well-known and truly talented guitarists like Yngwie, yet the majority of nobody's out there in the darkness continually vilify the man? Interesting, isn't it?

LOL you're preaching to the choir. One particular LOUSY guitarist comes to mind that every 12 year old Neo-Nazi wannabe metal head loves. He was from TX and I used to see him frequently before he was famous. Thus, I found it ironic that he would poke fun at Yngwie about "donuts" when his own brother/bandmate had a notorious problem with being overweight.

Re: Why is Yngwie so hated?
lol you guys crack me up, of course they say that, anything bad they'd say about a person would be hyped by their media and fans and detrimental to their image in most cases.
what's 'interesting' is that yngwie is the only one that doesn't even care about that and still goes and bags out other guitarists
btw George is the most humble and modest guy, he wouldn't say anything bad about yngwie in front of ppl ever no matter what he thought- and yeah that thing bout yngwie only giving him 10 mins soundcheck was also true
yngwie is baaadder than baaaaaaad

This is what George Lynch himself writes about the first show:
"First show last night. We opened the show.no sound check...little loose...It was my first show with the new Randall/dragon point to point amp..they looked cool as hell..all purple and full of skulls.....Sebastian Bach followed...wolf Hoffman from accept was on guitar! yngview went up next..he played super fast...he had 18 Marshall stacks..I hung out with yngview in the dressing room for awhile..i gotta say, his guitar is amazing..I've never played a fiddle that feels like that...very unique..very easy to play...told him i would trade him one of my esp's for one of his strats..he said he would but I think he lies...Dee snider scared the hit out of me..walked into my dressing room all dragged up. the guys almost 7 ft tall and he was wearing the same outfit he wore when we toured with them in 85..brought but a lot of memories...got a little misty thinking about it ( LOL)"

fu-ckin hell, you've got balls bagging out dimebag here now.. dimebag could phrase yngwie under the table anyday, he didn't need to kick **** while playing 32nd notes to be called a good player.
edit- and that opinion stands even tho i'm not a neo nazi 12 year old, or into metal.

Re: Why is Yngwie so hated?
Point well taken. However I still find it fascinating that the truly great guitarists all like Yngwie, while the unknown copycat wannabees all hate him. Would like to hear a legitimate reason for this strange phenomenon. No one ever heard Vai say that he hates Yngwie because the guy is fat, or because of his hair, or because he plays the same thing over and over.
Nope, it's only the nobodys who proclaim their hate for this man who has never done anything against them personally. Makes you wonder...

Another very good point. Yngwie is the only one who isn't afraid to publicly put down other guitarists. Usually his reasoning is that they ripped him off syle-wise, which most of them actually did so it seems a legitimate enough reason. Should a person be hated for being honest about his feelings of being constantly plagiarized? Or should everyone always be politically correct just so we don't "offend" anyone else? I give credit to Yngwie not only for his astonishing talent but for speaking his mind without fear of reprisals from the media or the public. It seems to really bother some people but I admire the man's brutal honesty.

You would think so, but this topic is just like Dracula, you can't kill it no matter what. It's gonna keep coming back from the dead, trust me. Actually, no one was more surprised than I that this topic has gotten so much attention (174 replies and 1,852 views so far). Shouldn't you guys (as well as me) be
playing guitar
or something?

This threads just turned into the the same thing over and over and over again
Other than bashing other guitarists, and other members, this thread has nowhere left to go. Hmmm.....can't kill it no matter what??

Just like a vampire. There's enough Yngwie haters out there to keep this topic going till hell freezes over. Looks like I unleashed the f**kin' fury with this one, eh?
