steve is working on material for a new record , and he has been on the road quite awhile already with the ZPZ tour and other various shows so no vai this year and that is ok if it means he makes a new record .

Vai isn't the be-all and end-all.

Gilbert and Petrucci are more than capable of filling the shoes for a while.
Its nice to have something different for a change.
