Worst version of Hey Joe I've ever heard...

And ironically it was the first ever recorded version!

Just a brief history of what went on here. Originally when Hendrix was trying to gain fame he wrote the song Hey Joe and hawked it around, but when he was eventually given an opportunity with it, he was told that he himself didn't suit the song and that someone else should record it. It was then given to Los Angeles garage band, 'The Leaves'.

This is their version:

Just to re-iterate, this version was a hit BEFORE Jimi's version, so in essence Jimi's version is actually a cover even though he himself wrote the song.

Isn't it amazing what you find?

No. No. No. No!

Whatever uncertainty surrounds the origin and authorship of "Hey Joe", the one thing that is for certain is that Hendrix did not write it!

This misinformation needs nipping in the bud before it has a chance to become "Internet true".

It is amazing, and not all of it good, unfortunately.

First things my professors always told me was that using wikipedia as a source was unacceptable. Not because it was all wrong but because it it is wrong your not garanteed that someone who actually knows checked it out.

Yeah it's just band stuff but look at the conflicting information just about one song.
