Re: Yngwie left Dimarzio!!!!

I hear YJM left Dimarzio because he was sick of reading threads on Jemsite about what Dimarzios people should put in their RG for a shred, jazz, blues, country, polka, br00tal melodic epic death metal, top 40, new age tone and wanted to give people a Duncan option.

Nah, all that will happen is that folks will say "don't get the HS-3, Yngwie doesn't like them anymore. Get Area 67s instead"

Re: Yngwie left Dimarzio!!!!

"When Yngwie J. Malmsteen set out on a quest to bring his tone to a higher level, he turned to Seymour Duncan" - ouch... what a dig at Dimarzio.

Also on the best selling strat, surely the Clapton strat is up there? And the SRV?

We all can assume Yngwie left DiMarzio for money and the quest for a fresh tone perhaps. I doubt we'll ever read about the details of it.

Re: Yngwie left Dimarzio!!!!

Dont get me wrong I love Yngwie and his music, but his recent album, was meh !! I honestly dont think new pups are going to change his style of writing.. Its neo classical shredd with some drums bass and vocals thrown in to help accentuate the shredd :P

Re: Yngwie left Dimarzio!!!!

Guys, I keep reading about the "money", and I can assure you players like YJM are not concerned about the small royalties they get from pickup endorsements.

YJM probably wanted somethings changed in his sound, and Seymour Duncan was willing to go the extra mile.

So what your saying is, that it was a simple factor of Dimarzio not wanting to build him a new pickup.. I find this hard to believe...

All I can tell you is money was not the issue. Seriously, what do you think YJM was making off HS-3 and strap sales? I doubt it was enough to put gas in the Ferrari.

He wouldn't have left Dimarzio for less money but a new pickup design....

Re: Yngwie left Dimarzio!!!!

Probably there was an argument between DiMarzio and Yngwie. What kind of argument we don't know, but these things happen when arguments explode.

Let's face it: DiMarzio would have been happy to make any kind of pick-up for Yngwie, like they did in 1982.

God, you guys gossip like 40 year old housewives who aren't getting any. The guy changed pick up endorsements, who cares why. Does it really need a 5 page thread?

I can sum it up in a sentence. Some people think it was money and some don't.
