Yngwie Malmsteen studio video

This must have been posted before, but just in case:
http://www.guitarworld.com/article/y...en_studio_tour

At the risk of encouraging the Yngwie bashers, he should be shot for storing guitars like that!

Yeah, he's got that mint 54 that was hand made or whatever just stacked in with all the others. Things gotta be worth a mint.

Yep, did somebody manage to read what steve wrote on the back. Even on pause with a rather clear pic I can't really decipher it ...

Nice vid' ... I was a little surprised too at the way he stores his guitars. Obviously, they seem to be 'only' tools for him, which can be understandable but is unusual !

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen studio video

I wonder if Yngwie just pulled them all out for people to check out his collection, or if he really stores them that way. I also hope he does not actually store them like that.

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen studio video

He wasn't exactly careful when he was pulling them out of the pile or dropping them back in. I'm a firm believer that guitars should be played and not wrapped in cotton wool, but that is just wilful neglect of some guitar history.

Play all of them, even the 54 or whatever it was, accept damage from usage, but don't store them like firewood.

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen studio video

There was a vid on youtube (it's blocked right now for me to check) where he finds an old strat at a shop, tries to haggle the price and then after he gets it, throws it in the back of his car. It sounds like glass breaking when he does it, but that might have been an added sound effect. It was a pretty strange clip.

Thanks ! I couldn't figure it out, maybe time I change my glasses

I recall Steve saying at the EVO experience in Glasgow that he and Yngwie were friends for over 20 years now. Hhe also stated that having confidence in what you are doing is very important, essential, and that Yngwie definitaly has this confidence (he said this in a very positive way about YJM). And I think I grasp what Steve meant. YJM might be not everybody's cup of tea but he definitaly has found HIS sound and HIS way and is extremely confident in what he is doing, which I think is a major achievement for someone, regardless of the opinion on his music by other people. Also, this confidence might be taken for arrogance by some people, but I guess the line is thin between genuine confidence and arrogance.

Whatever, at least there is one thing I won't do like Yngwie, is storing my beloved JEMs the way he stores his guitars, lol

I guess when you have the money he has, plus Fender to call on as and when needed, you can get pretty blase about keeping your guitars in good order.

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen studio video

Well the typical player saves in order to buy a nice guitar so it is more of an emotional purchase for many. But Yngwie hasn't had to do that for a looooong time. And there are some people who just don't have much of an emotional attachment to the guitar and he seems to be one of them. I wouldn't store my guitars like that either, but it's hardly going to hurt them - maybe a scratch or ding here or there.

Hey, maybe he is just waiting for a guitar stand endorsement deal and is too cheap to buy his own.

Re: Yngwie Malmsteen studio video

Great find, I enjoyed that. Its obvious that those guitars are always sitting there. You can tell by the way he put his guitars back down. He just put them down and let them bang against each other. I dont think he really cares if they get chipped.

Ahhh the Earl of Malmsteen ahahahahahaha
