zz top

I've recently revisitied my ZZ Top collection and I must say that Billy Gibbons is THE MAN when it comes to raw flava. Anyone know what amps he prefers?

Damn I love this band....... : v )

I went to a concert a few years ago and he was using a few Fender twins.

Re: zz top

I remember a guitar world magazine that had an article on all his latest gear, and I think I remember him saying he was using Mesa Boogie Lonestars.

Re: zz top

I saw ZZ Top a few years ago and couldn't believe what a tiny guy Billy Gibbons is, still a monster player though.

Re: zz top

Believe it or not he seems to be using Crates on their current tour......

Billy has a million seriously ancient Fender amps which I believe are the mainstay of his studio sound, and, yes, he is the Tone King!

Re: zz top

You know, I've 'lucked' into seeing this band free three times, and I've always been amazed that they made it big at all. They've always struck me as a good local band, but not really great by any stretch. I don't think they're anywhere near as good as King's X, Zebra, or a whole host of other bands that got a break but never made it big. I'm sure they're nice guys, but 'Sharp Dressed Man' shouldn't set you up for life.
