ADA MP-1 with 3 tube mod (3TM) - $450

ADA MP-1 with 3 tube mod (3TM) - $450

Sounds great. Getting out of the rack stuff. Hard to find as most everyone that gets one keeps it.

I forget, is the noise mod included w/ the 3TM? Did you do it yourself, or who did the mod? Thanks.

I ordered mine thru MJMP in europe so it's becuase his handling the 240Volt country. The 3TM does not come with Noise mod, Noise mod is a lone by itself and yes I fit it on my own for my Old ADAMP1. Don't know about mfergel, maybe you should buy this 1.

Re: ADA MP-1 with 3 tube mod (3TM) - $450

I'm not sure who did the mod but I'm almost certain it was one of the guys from adadepot (hairstone, MarshallJMP). It doesnt have the noise mod..per se. The noise mod includes replacing some items on the main board and the tube board, so obvioulsy the tube board has been updated. It would still require the replacement of two chips on the main (a third for the loop) and 3 capacitors on the main. This one isn't too bad as far as noise goes. No, it's not as quiet as most new amps, but it's also got more gain than a lot of new amps. It can really depend on what you have your gain settings at.

Yeah, I'm the same mfergel from the Digitech forums. I've got about 5 MP-1's. Don't worry, I will always keep at least 1. I just bought (well traded actually for my Carvin V3) a Mesa Boggie Rectoverb and it really captures everything I was looking for so I'm thinging out my gear now.

Yeah, no pain...although I was a little choked up when I sold my 3.666 last week, but I can build another one. Plus, and here's a brief list of the gear I have right now..........

Tonelab SE
Zoom G7
Marshall JCM600
Marshall JCM2000 DSL50
Peavey Rockmaster
Modded Epiphone Jr.
2 custom built 2x12's
1 Marshall 1936 2x12
Carvin Legacy 2x12
Peavey Classic 50/50

....and my new baby........the Mesa Boogie Rectoverb Single Rectifier with oversized 4x12.

....plus my assorted effects/processors/etc.

So yeah, I'm thinning the heard.........with the exception of my bastard Kramer (Focus 1000 body/Baretta neck) I have no real emotional attachment to my stuff. I'll most likely be unloading some guitars again once my ESP LTD EC-1000 shows up. I need to cut my guitar collection in half, which is a bit at more than a dozen right now.

Re: ADA MP-1 with 3 tube mod (3TM) - $450

If Hairston did it, he would have his signature on the sticker on the top of the unit. I think it says "Hairified" or something like that.

All complete units done by HB and MarshallJMP should have the Noise Mod included. If you bought a stand alone kit, I don't think it is. The complete unit will also have a 3TM Mod sticker on the front left side.

The MDRT replacement transformer (comes in the Ultra+) and 0.0 noise mod will quiet the unit down to almost nothing.

I've got one of the first 3TM Ultra's that Hairston built and waiting on my 3TM Ultra+ from MarshallJMP.

These units are an excellent source to capture that 80's tone. I've got the perfect Lynch tone with the 3TM for dirty and a stock MP-1 for cleans running thru my JCM800.

mfergel is legit. He hangs at the ADAdepot forum and is good peeps.

Re: ADA MP-1 with 3 tube mod (3TM) - $450

As long as you ordered the 3TM upgrade card as an upgrade kit a sticker will be given to you to compliment the MP1.
The ADA MP1 3TM are a damn great preamp with bloody lots of gain almost like the Tri Axis, not only for 80's tone but overall I can get any sound I like from death, grunge, metal, indies to the classic Blues tone, I can get a almost Satch tone too. All you need to do is to play with the frequency dial. The only disadvantage of a 3TM is you can't dial cleans using the tube tone anymore but the SS section sure provide me more than enough cleans that I want.

Re: ADA MP-1 with 3 tube mod (3TM) - $450

I'm thinking it might be a partial noise mod. It does look like the main caps have been replaced but not the chips. It's a professional job on putting the board in, that's for sure. All the solders are clean, etc.

Also, the amp has a full set of JJ ECC83's.

I know getting a board to the US is a bit on the pricey side because of the current exchange rate (close to $300 if I remember right) and given that stock MP-1's are still selling for $250, this is a pretty good deal.

dude it's a great deal considering MarshallJMP is selling the Ultra and Ultra+ for $600 - $700.

I thought someone was gonna buy it on the Depot site?

You do lose the cleans a bit with the 3TM, that's why I use a stock one for my cleans.

Well, one guy wanted me to sell it for $400 shipped. I haven't heard back from the other yet.
