FS: 2002 Taylor 714CE w/upgraded electronics

Price: $1850, shipped and insured CONUS ($900 savings over street price)

Condition: Excellent, 3 very tiny impressions (pin head) in top. Pics available upon request

Description: Grand Auditorium cutaway 714. Western Red Cedar Top/Indian Rosewood back and sides. Koa inlays in the rosette. Electronics originally were the fishman prefix matrix pickup system, but I sent the guitar back to Taylor to have it upgraded with the Expression System ($508 upgrade), new nut and new saddle as a result of the upgrade. Ebony fretboard with small dot inlays in abalone. Gold Tuners, end pins inlayed with green abalone as well.

Tone: I played nearly every guitar under $3500 in St. Louis while looking for a mid-high end acoustic. This is the one I landed on and we have 4 Taylor dealers in town and no shortage of other fine brands. This one was "the one." The cedar imparts a wonderful warmth to the top end and it is extremely responsive. It is more suited to light flatpicking and fingerstyle playing...if you need an acoustic to flog with a pick in a frenzie of bluegrass-i-ness, then you'll need to look elsewhere. If you want something that rings majestically with overtones, adding sparkle and complexity to fingerstyle licks and medium flatpicking...then this will be the best bang for the buck you'll find. The only guitars I like better are my Collings ($3500) and a Froggy Bottom ($5500). The cedar/rosewood combo is fantastic. The rosewood provides a huge bottom end, but it's controlled and the mids are not too heavy like in mahogany. The tone is very even, and like I said, the trebles just sing with the cedar imparting this wonderful top end shimmer. It really is a great sounding guitar.

This guitar has been played every week since purchased new in our contemporary worship services, so it's got some hours on it, but no wear to speak of. The more a finely crafted acoustic is played, the better it will sound over time, it has to vibrate to open up and this one is just starting to sing.

I am selling because, as I mentioned, my Collings is suiting me more right now and I need to play it more and more to allow it to open up more quickly. And I need to free up some capital for another purchase that I've already made.

Serious buyers only please, PM for pics and more details.
