FS: 4 BBE DI-1000s used on the 05 Vai tour.

I listed these before but took them off as I started using them again. I'm cleaning house now and no longer need them.

These are 4 BBE DI-1000 direct boxes. These were used on the Vai '05 Real Illusion tours so they're a little banged up but work perfectly. They have all the bells and whistles including the built-in Sonic Maximizer (which really works well for sprucing up an unlively signal). They all include the power supply (which is only needed when using them in active mode.)

These are $250 new and cheapest I found on **** was $160.

After being inundated with emails asking "what does this do?", here's a simple and effective demo.

First, the box is a DI (direct inject) box. On tour, these were used for my acoustic and sitar, the keyboards and a DI split from Billy's bass rig.

I mainly used them at home for record a direct guitar signal (in addition to a mic'd signal), lots of bass and keys and direct acoustic as well.

In this example, I play the chord twice, then you'll hear me flip the switch on the DI activating the Sonic Maximizer, then I play the chord twice again. Put on some good headphones and you can really hear the immense difference.

Actually my question was not about the maximizer part, just what is the difference between this and say a normal 382 or 482 rack unit is?

Those don't have DI capability. They're for processing an already recorded signal.
