FS: early '90 Jackson Pro Soloist
This is my Pro Soloist that is simply the best 6 string neck through I've ever had. It unfortunately doesn't get played much anymore, because I'm really only playing one 6 (the Jem with Bartolinis) and one 7 (the Carvin) these days. So....
This is from the very beginning of the Japanese run, when the Soloists were made to the exact USA specs, only better
Thin fast neck, very wizard like. The stock pickups have been replaced by an EMG SA/SA/81 set, which sound great and sustain forever and ever. The volume pot is very easy to turn, so that might need replacing if you bang into your knobs a lot. I don't, so it hasn't been a problem for me, and the pot does function fine. Other than the pickups and pot the guitar is totally stock. The guitar's condition is about 8.5 out of 10; not perfect, but very, very nice. No chunks or gouges missing anywhere in the charcoal gray metallic paint. The neck is very fast, with a bound
ebony board
with good frets. MOP "Jackson" inlay in the headstock. Plastic still on the
truss rod cover
Everything about the guitar is top quality, and it blew the doors off my
JC RG-9570
when I had them both. That's why I sold the J Custom years ago, actually. Comes in a hard shell case.
Seriously, if you like shred type neck through guitars, this is just about as good as it gets. Pics
Here
. I can take more if you want, just ask. I'm selling this to help fund the purchase of a Kurzweil, if anyone is curious about that
$700 firm plus shipping
, and you frankly can't get a new Japanese guitar of this quality for anywhere near that.

Alas, the cake is long gone I'm afraid, but Seamus would be happy to draw you a picture of the cake, which I will include with the guitar

With the EMGs in there, does the 3rd knob (mid-boost w/stock pups) do anything? Thanks.

Re: FS: early '90 Jackson Pro Soloist
I just checked, and much to my surprise (I've owned this guitar for quite a while) neither of the tone pots do anything at all. It still sounds fantastic, better than you'd expect from an EMG
equipped guitar
, but I need to find out if this is wiring or battery related, and address whatever faults I find.
So, for the time being anyway I'm going to remove this as a for sale item, until I can get the tone pots sorted.
Thanks for asking; I'd hate to have sent something to someone that wasn't how I described it.

Re: FS: early '90 Jackson Pro Soloist
ok, figured it out finally. The 1st knob is volume, the middle is tone for the middle single coil, and the last is tone for the neck single coil. Sort of backwards, but there it is. All work fine, and there is no tone control for the 81 in the bridge; it's all on all the time.

Re: FS: early '90 Jackson Pro Soloist
I would consider trading this for the right USA Strat (maple board a plus), or possibly another 7 string. No 7321s or Schecters though

Re: FS: early '90 Jackson Pro Soloist
I would also be happy to trade this and my Pod XT Live (and possibly a few bucks as well) for a UV777PBK, should anyone be sitting on a UV they simply don't play anymore.

Re: FS: early '90 Jackson Pro Soloist
I bought a 1527, so no more trades for this one.
$700 shipped in the States, slightly more (whatever shipping adds) elsewhere

Re: FS: early '90 Jackson Pro Soloist
I'd also consider trading this and cash for a nice RG20th in DY or RFR

Re: FS: early '90 Jackson Pro Soloist
I have a new pressing need for a nice acoustic, so I'll consider a trade for a nice one, or partial payment towards a nice one.
Once again, this is an outstanding neckthrough guitar, better than the J Customs I've owned by a fair bit. Nicer than the USA Jacksons I've owned as well.

Re: FS: early '90 Jackson Pro Soloist
It's the 580. I have an OFR in the case with it, but the block is too long.
