FS: Hughes and Kettner 4x12 guitar cab...

Some light cosmetic flaws, nothing major. It has that 'carpet' material all over it (whatever that stuff is called). E-mail me for pictures.

I bought it from a friend of mine in 1994 and I've never gigged with it. It has sat in my house doing absolutely nothing. I've jammed on it numerous times and it works perfectly fine. In fact, it sounds f'ing incredible. I just don't use it anymore and I'm using 2x12 cabs now (hate lugging around 4x12's), so there's just no reason to keep it around.

I believe it has four celestion speakers. I'm asking $300 for it and, since it's a pretty large piece of gear to ship, we can work something out with the shipping, maybe go half and half or something. I'm also open to respectable offers.

PM me or ... MelodicJimmy@fctvplus.net

Thanks.

No idea what model the cab is. But, I know for a fact it was bought brand new in 1994. I know that the cab can handle a total of 140 watts. It might take me a day or two to get pictures, but when I do, I'll PM them to you.

Thanks.

If they are it should handle more than 140 watts. 240 if I recall correctly.

I'm guessing it's this one...

I had mine from new, it was loaded with Celestion Vintage 30s & had a fluffy carpet type finish.

That's the one! (in the above picture) Thanks for that! The only difference is that mine is ANGLED. I don't think the one in the picture is, it's hard to tell.

And, maybe the power rating is 240, I could have sworn it was 140, but maybe it is 240. The only head I ever used it with was a Crate Blue Voodoo (which I sold a while back) and that was only 120 watts and it was loud as hell. The cab can handle some balls, trust me.

Ok, you have my attention, lol.

Any speaker crackling? Has the cab ever been abused? What kind of cosmetic damage does it have...um all I can think of right now, lol.
Anyone have any idea what kind of wood this cabinet is made of?

Speaker crackling? No... not at all. As for the cosmetic stuff, it's not really 'damage,' it's stupid stuff that I can't remember off the top of my head. But, here's what I'll do: tomorrow, I'm gonna pull the cab out (it's stored in a closet because I haven't used it recently) and take some pictures of it. I don't have a digital camera, so I'm gonna borrow a friend's. I might not be able to do it for a day or two, actually.

But, once I post a picture, you'll be able to see for yourself. It's nothing major, though, I know that much. Like, there's a slight discoloration on the "Hughes & Kettner" logo. Things like that.

Re: FS: Hughes and Kettner 4x12 guitar cab...

the speakers might be "Rockdriver" celestions. 60 watts.
It looks like an old "Atax" series cab. I have both the 2x12 and
the 4x12(slanted) versions of these. Mine have the
navy blue carpert style fabric on them. The speakers are so warm,
and don't hype the mids like vintage 30s. I wouldn't play through
anything else. A dimond in the rough if you ask me If it is
the Atax series cab....

Awesome, thanks again Jazz.

jl2556, sounds fair to me. This will be my first decent cab, so I just want to make sure I get a good one, hehe. I was shooting for Mesa Boogie at first (to match my Mark IV) but after realizing they want 500+ for a cab, I decided to go a different route, lol.
