I'll start off by saying I just decided to sell my Ibanez SC420... but, only because I'm over 25 guitars and again and this is my least used Ibanez (my PGM's and JEM get more playtime). Here is a mostly unbiased opinion/description:
SC420's have a thin mahogany body (similar to a saber) but, with specially designed volume and tone pot mountings to lessen the amount of wood routed out for electronics. The neck is medium thickness and has a nice satin neck feel. The scale length is 25.1" so it like a PRS... shorter than Fender and longer than Gibson. Another important detail is that is has a nice comfortable neck/body joint (no clunky heel here!). Pickups are Ibanez V1 & V2 and are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for this guitar. I prefer them WAY more than the Jazz/JB combo on my singer's SC420! Here's a clip:
High Octane
The vibe is a Strat feel with a Les Paul tone type of vibe. Made in Japan. Street price was $700 not including case or gigbag.
Pickup position 4 is really awesome (
neck humbucker split or in parallel I don't remember what the wiring is)... 1st half of the clip. 2nd half is position 1 (
bridge humbucker).
Chances are you WON'T find a nicer or better sounding SC than the one on the right:

Mine was from the last production batch so it's newer than 2000 and is a 9.5 on a scale from 1-10 in condition. $500 shipped CONUS with a Deluxe Ibanez Gigbag ($60 super padded kind). As always with my guitars, this was handpicked for tone.
