Description
A few years ago I set out to make a unique RG using only original, cream of the crop parts. I'm really not into replicas or 'knock-offs', and it took me quite a while (and quite a lot of money) to find all the perfect parts. The body is an original 80's Desert Yellow RG550. All cavity covers\jack are original. The Edge tremolo came separate, and is like new. Neck is a pretty damn rare BLACK 565 neck, I love reverse headstocks and wouldn't settle for the more common blue\red variety of 565 neck. I've never played any other 565 neck but this one has an awesome glossy finish that I've never seen on an Ibanez before. Knobs\pickup selector are original Ibanez hot pink. The pickups are of course Dimarzio, and they SCREAM (ahhh!). Unfortunately Dimarzio's hot pink does not match Ibanez's, but it's as close as you'll get without a JEM pickup set. Comes with a pink lined JEM hardshell case, because they're the coolest case Ibanez ever made.
Condition
Body is in pretty good condition, few chips along the edges here and there. Worst is a decent sized chip on the upper horn. Got most chips in the pictures...one picture shows a white line along with a chip, the white line is a reflection. There is the usual neck joint hairline crack as on most old Ibanez guitars. The headstock is nice and clean, just a few little scrapes in the logo. Not much wear on the maple fretboard. Frets are in O-K condition, there are some spots where you can fret out on wide bends, nothing a crowning couldn't solve. Other than that, it plays like butter. The tremolo is IMMACULATE...really friggin' clean. Pickups are all new and in great condition, as is the wiring (done by a great local tech, very clean job). Missing one pickguard screw on upper horn. The outside of the case has a few scuffs and scrapes, nothing horrible. The inside of the case is damn near perfect.
Unsolicited Sob Story
I love this guitar. Taking pictures of it for this ad makes me even more reluctant to get rid of it. It's a real panty dropper ... or would've been, about 25 years ago. Maybe still would be in Japan. Anyway. It just never gets played, mostly because I love EMG's so much, but would never put anything but Dimarzios in a hot yellow\pink RG ... sacrilege!
