Here is my number one finally for sale, a japanese Ibanez RT-650.
Alder 2 piece body.
Maple neck.
Rosewood fretboard.
24 vintage medium narrow frets, 70% height left.
Viper neck profile (NOT paper thin as the Wizard profile).
2 point tremolo with STEEL block.
White pearloid H-S-H pickguard.
Cream binding on body and neck.
Graphite nut.
Upgrades:
- Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader bridge pickup (balances great with the natural bright tone of the guitar and the bridge).
- Dimarzio Air Norton neck pickup (smooth creamy tone for leads. Petrucci anyone?).
- Mid pickup is a dummy, set as far down as possible for fast heavy picking.
- 3 way switching, with a 2 way mini-switch that sends both humbuckers into parallel mode. That means all 6 sounds are HUM CANCELLING. Took me a while to find a 4PDT mini switch.
- 500K CTS pots and Switchcraft jack.
- Graph Tech string saver saddles and string tree. No more breakage or tuning issues.
- Planet Waves locking tuners, they also cut the string ends automatically when they lock.
- Hard shell case.
- Q-Parts dome knobs
The bad:
The black refinish wasn't done properly. Paint is irregular, runny in a couple of spots inside the lower and upper bout, and opaque. Take a good look at the pictures that I took in the sunlight.
These RT series guitars are by no means collector items, but they do have a circle of enthusiasts out there. They were Ibanez's response to the Anderson/Schecter market of the 90's.
Feel free to ask any questions, or if you are in So Cal, stop by to check it out in person.
