Looking for a left handed RG with a Floyd Rose
Hello everyone,
I’m looking to buy a left handed seven string with a
Floyd Rose
. Ibanez used to offer the 7321L but it looks like they don’t make them anymore with the Floyd Bridge. Does anyone out here have one or two they want to sell? Does anyone know where I can get a couple?
I contacted Floyd Rose and they don’t make a seven string lefty bridge. I guess Ibanez made them special for that model when it was offered.
Any help with my quest would be appreciated – I’ll pay double what the guitars list for. That would be around $3000 for two of them.
Anyone?

K7 brigde can be used in left handed models. Bridge has two holes for that U-bar. Two places for whammy bar!
That isn't difficult to do left hand version of Lo
pro edge
. There's almost complete hole for that
arm holder
. Little bit of machining reguired. Of course right tools needed.

FR wasn't the company that made the trem for the 7321L. The trem on the RG7321L is a TRS7, i.e. a licensed Floyd. I think FR is going to announce a left FR7 at NAMM in 3 weeks but I am not 100 % sure on that.

I checked on the website and they dont offer the K7 bridge - I'd have to buy the whole guitar.
Now, regarding a mod job on a right handed 7 string trem- your saying I could mod one to a lefty? How?

There is half of a hole at left side of the bridge, and it's exactly same place as the right hole, just the opposite side.
First drill it trought from under and then do the little cavity for the arm holder from top.
Drilling trought is easiest part, but doing that arm holder cavity from top is little bit harder cause bridge top is in angle.
Using this same methot it could be easiest to do this to Lo trs, because it's based on plain 4mm steel plate.

I really wonder if anyone hasn't done this before. There is only one minus in this project. Surface (chrome, gold or whatever) starts cracking at drilling point.

I'm pretty sure 'Lefty Rob' did a left-hand conversion on a Lo-Pro trem.
There's a 'how-to' tutorial on the Projectguitar.com site for this very modification actually.

Nope, I've only had origional Lefty Edges and Origional lefty Lo-pro's. I think it was Koss...
Its quite a simple thing to do though with a steady hand and a drill or Dremel though.

I noticed the picture you posted is of a right handed 6 string floyd- the mod can be done to the right handed 7 string right? And, how to you attach the part the arm plugs into on the other side?
I'm doing this mode- you can bet on that. And by the way thanks a million - problem solved. My minds made up that I need a seven string, and a trem- no compromise. You can check out my demos done on an RG7620L at
http://www.myspace.com/brianjsimpson
. That guitar was ripped from the trunk of my car.
I plan to buy the guitar from Carvin, and talk to a technician I know named Rick Emrey from here in South Jersey. I'm gonna see if he can route the guitar and mount the Floyd with the same specs as the Universe or RG - so it can float (pull up about a 5th). If not, I'll get it mounted flush. At any rate, now there's a plan.
Again, can the mod be done to a seven string right handed?
Thanks a million.
