The 1987 RG 550 models all had headstocks matching the body colors (check the catalogues on Rich's site), which likely makes this a later model. Though the serial starts with F7, this system is used as a guide only, and though this guitar may have been produced in 1987, it is a 1988 or later model (like automobiles, product often gets produced prior to the "year" of the make). Also, the pic shows F branded pickups, which are found on 1988 or newer models (per catalogue pictures). As always, it's possible that this is just a fluke item that left the factory that way, or the neck didn't originally belong to the body, or it has parts from different years etc... I hope you get your $$$. BTW, what does FA stand for? This sure looks like RF to me.

FA would stand for Five Alarm, but I agree, that's a RFR Road Flare Red.

yeah, that's kinda what it looks like to me. An 87 neck (from a white or black RG) on an 89 body. From the pix, the paint looks more FA than RF to me. The pick-ups seem like the ones that came out in 89ish (maybe late 8

Also, I always thought the "Gotoh labeled" labelled tuners came out later than 87?
But I'm prolly wrong.
