Washburn USA Custom Shop X81 Face Eraser (Jon Donais Signature)

I'm selling my Custom Shop USA Washburn X81 Face Eraser (Jon Donais Signature model) Guitar. She is in great condition. No chips, little if any fret wear at all, the only problem with this beautiful guitar is that it has a twist/warp in it's neck, its slightly twisted more on the low E side toward the right of the fretboard near the nut (See picture below). The problem with a warp like this is that it will not intonate or tune properly. The twist/warp in this guitar's neck can be repaired by an experienced Luthier (aka guitar repair professional) There is absolutely nothing wrong with this guitar other than that warp. It was built in Washburn's USA Custom Shop in 2007. This exact model sold for around $2000 brand new after tax at any licensed Washburn dealer (aka guitar store) in Canada. I would get this guitar repaired my self but I just don't have the time or money these days to do so. It's serial number is: 0701094

The Washburn USA Face Eraser Has been Discontinued by Washburn and is no longer in production.

Jon Donais from Shadows Fall was rocking these as his Signature Model before Washburn dropped his contract. Jon Donais now has an unbelievably expensive as hell version of the X81 with ESP now.

She sounds and looks beautiful, it's Tung oil finish feels great, you really get the feeling your holding a nice piece of wood in your hands with this kind of finish. Its Flame maple top looks amazing in person.

This Guitar would make a great repair project or even a really nice show piece guitar for your bar or house.

I asked Ryan Struck at Washburn what could be done to either fix the warp and or the intonation problems on the Face Eraser, Ryan replied with the following.

I’ve gotten the following response from my lead technician:

From the pictures it looks like he can adjust the saddles back more or if that still was not enough, it should be possible to have the entire bridge re-mounted to solve the intonation issue.

If repairing the warp is necessary the frets are removed, fretboard leveled and then refretted, we would charge about $200.00 for this IF there are no other issues that I can’t see from his pictures.

So if any of you are interested in buying the Face Eraser it looks like Washburn will fix it's issues at a great cost and you'll have a fully functional guitar with a certified repair by Washburn USA. Just something to think about.

I wish I didn't spend around a $1000 on this guitar already or I would have jumped on Washburn's offer to fix her. I wish I had the extra cash to get her fixed right now.

Well, its like I said in my review

"I thought at first the twist was causing the intonation issues it was having but after trimming the springs behind some of it's saddles I was able to get her intonated (thank god). Even with its slight twist in her neck she still plays great, no buzzing or issues adjusting the truss rod at all. The twist doesn't effect its playability or feel what so ever. I still have her with very low action and she still sounds and plays amazing".

I only have intonation issues on the low E & G string, its only slightly outta intonation on both strings, barely audible. The twist is truly not that bad at all, she's my main axe for a reason & that's coming from a guitar perfectionist like me.

I'm only selling her because I may have to move, if I catch a break and end up not moving out then I'm going to start building my dream project Axe with the cash. If I was rich I'd keep her for life.
