WTB 5+ string bass

I'm looking for a decent, reasonably priced bass with five or more strings. I'm primarily a guitarist, but want something to record on and finally feel like I've gotten to the point where the Squier 5-string I used to own was holding me back. Besides, I want something with humbuckers.

I'm pretty open to basically anything - all I care is that it doesn't look TOO ugly, plays well, has five, six, or whatever strings, and has humbuckers (my ideal bass tone would be like Tool's "Forty-six and 2" if this helps). I think that an Ibanez Ergodyne was the most comfortable bass I've ever played, so a five or more string Ergodyne would be ideal, but like I said, if you've got a good bass that you can do without, let me know.

So... what do you have?

I have a Spector Rex 5 that I don't need and it just sits around until I pull it out once in awhile....

This bass WAS played live and has been scuffed a little here and there. It is neck thru and has a black quilt see through finish. Lists at $1400 and would sell it with a non- original hard case for $650 shipped. I can get some pics if you want. blisterfist@mexicandethrecords.com

American Musical have the Ergodyne EDA-905 on closeout for $459.

Dude. That's AWESOME, I'd looked at that one but it was a bit out of my price range at the time. At $459, it's cheaper than the Ergodyne I'd tentatively settled on, flat silver is way cooler than dark charcoal grey, and peizos are just too cool to pass on. Order placed.

I owe you a beer or something.
