Hi....Yes. A few years back I had an 8 ohm hotplate which I used with my Carvin Legacy head.
Didn't like the effect at all. I thought it really effected the tone in a bad way especially at high levels of attenuation.

I now use the Mass III with my Legacy. It really does what it says it should, The Mass III is the newest of the atttenuator models developed by Ted Weber.
As you probably know it uses a speaker motor rather than a resistor as in the hotplate so it has a more natural effect.
I use it in my semi detatched cottage and am able to crank the Legacy Lead channel to around half volume with the Gain set on 7 and the windows stay in!!
Dunno if you are familar with the Legacy but it is one LOUD mother of an amp!!!

I bought one from Ted in the US a couple of months back & the total cost including shipping VAT & import duty ended up at around £275. Quite a lot I know but I reckon it was worth it.

Hope that helps!?

Re: WTB: THD hotplate - 8 Ohms

Basically he builds them to order so you may have to wait a bit.
The other thing is because it is a speaker motor rather than a resistor it doesn't produce any heat so does not need a fan or a power supply.

The other cool thing is the switchable feature so you can bypass the attenuator using the footswitch...... for example use the attenuator to crank the lead channel of your amp and bypass it when you want to use the clean channel where obviously you're not really looking for tube saturation.
Works a treat!.....But you have to tap dance carefully! LOL!!!

sh1t! I sound like a friggin salesman!!

Re: WTB: THD hotplate - 8 Ohms

For a 60 Watt amp you want at least a 100W attenuator so either the Mass 100, Mass 150 or Mass III should work out fine for you.
