70's Ibanez ES335 copy
A pawn shop around here has a mint Ibanez Es335 copy.I think it is model 2454 based on pics I have seen searching the net.It has nice inlays, black knobs, and is cherry red, like
Eric Johnson
's ES335 from the first G3 video.
They are asking 900$(according to the tag), but I figure that is way high.I can't seem to find any info on what these should be going for, so forgive me if there is an obvious thread around.I was thinking about offering them 500$ cash.
Thanks for any help.

Re: 70's Ibanez ES335 copy
If it has a bolt on neck, it is not worth $500, if it is a set neck, it probably is... they are okay, but they are not a 335, they just look a lot like one!

Re: 70's Ibanez ES335 copy
It played better than any 335 I have tried, and I once worked for a shop that owned several of the more expensive vintage Gibsons.900$ just seems high to me.
I think the Ibanez did have a set neck.Aside from the headstock, it looked just like a 335 to me.

Re: 70's Ibanez ES335 copy
Have to admit, I'm not that partial to Gibson 335s either, but as you say, $900 is too high in any case. Now, if the guitar was an AR200 (I think that was the one), which was what became the
John Scofield
model, it would be cheap!

Re: 70's Ibanez ES335 copy
Heck there is one on the auction site for $37,000
#320221729064
Please understand I'm not suggesting that they are worth $900 nevermind 37K
I honestly have no idea what they are worth.. but I wouldnt be TOO shocked to see something like the guitar in the auction go for 900. It looks to be a very nicely done 335 replica.

Re: 70's Ibanez ES335 copy
Yeah, $900 is about what they pull these days, though you occasionally see them for a little less. Not much less, though. they've been going up for a while, as are all the 77-80 Ibanezes. Your next step up is a Heritage 535, which would be an unbound
rosewood board
and come in at about 1200 or so used.
That guy only put 37K there because he wanted offers, and not an auction. Odd, but he might get 1200 with the Bigsby.

Thats an unusual technique at the least.. especially considering listing fee's relation to the listed prices. I can understand looking for the offers but those prices ( it's now relisted over 40K) lead me to believe there is an elevator not quite making it to the top floor somewhere
It looks like He's ether not legit or fishing for a sucker.
