Question

A question about the delivery period

Hi everybody,

I ordered a guitar, in early November 2006. Now, I know the company I ordered it at is reliable, but they said they expected the guitar to come in, probably after six weeks max. But it's been, like nearly ten weeks now.

I already called them a while back, and they then said to me that they expected the guitar to come in soon.

So is a delivery time like this normal, or do I have to get worried?

The guitar I ordered is a JEM77BRMR. They didn't have it in stock, so they had order it at their supplier.

If your asking on here its surely kick ass time.
A colon for a necklace would be meagre compensation for such a wait.

Re: A question about the delivery period

I'll call them again, then. I don't want to be a whining customer, calling them every two minutes asking them if my guitar has come in or not. But I didn't know if a delivery time like this for a JEM was normal or not.

You know, I also bought a Whammy at this store a few years back, which they also had to order at their supplier. When they had gotten it, they didn't tell me for weeks. It wasn't until I called them that they told me. Perhaps something similar is going on.

I would call the store and have them give you the supplier name and then call them directly. If they give you a BS story, call Ibanez. If nothing works out, tell them you want your money back. You'll be amazed how quickly you get that guitar. Bottom line Myst, it's your hard earned money and if they told me 6 weeks, then I would be on their azzes after 6 weeks and a day.

I hope you get it soon

I have a webpage, which I can acces through my e-mail, on which they give me the current status of my order. That's probably what you mean? On that page it still says that it's being ordered at the moment.

Re: A question about the delivery period

Well, I called the store just now and the person I had on the phone, said that he'll ask the guy from the acquisition department to clear things up.

They'll e-mail me when they know what's going on. I'll keep you guys posted.

Well, at least they're doing something about it.
Hopefully they will get back to you quickly and let you know, and not keep you waiting for another length of time.

Shops do have to order guitars in obviously, which can take a little while. But not since November 06. That sounds a bit of a long waiting time if you ask me. Whether they didnt order it straight away or not? I dont know.

Hopefully it will all get sorted.

Re: A question about the delivery period

If they give you any more problems just tell them you want a refund as another supplier you've found has one in stock , ready to be picked up. It works wonders.

Thats a good idea, yeah.

They will soon change their tune after that.
They will pull-out all the stops for you then.

Re: A question about the delivery period

That's the problem with people these days (no offense at anyone). No one is assertive anymore. By gosh, if they told you six weeks, then it should be six weeks. You have the right to call them every two minutes if you wish, especially since it is your money.

It seems as if everyone's got this "I don't want to offend anybody" attitude. That has its place, but when you pay your hard earned money for a guitar, THEY should be the ones who don't want to offend anybody.

Re: A question about the delivery period

Well, it cuts both ways - (crap) happens to people on both sides of the "buyer/seller" equation, and if their supplier is legitimately just letting them down, then blowing up at the guy on the other end of the phone and screaming "I want my guitar, and I want it NOW!" isn't going to help anything. Sure, you have a right to recieve your guitar when they tell you it will arrive, but just because you haven't doesn't mean they're screwing you or out to get you - it could just as easily be problems further up the road that they're caught in the middle of.

Getting mad at people doesn't automatically fix anything. Be polite, be firm, but be reasonable while you're on the phone with them, and give them every opportunity to make things right on their own. If they do, well, it's a win-win on both sides, you come out a satisfied customer with some extra swag, and they come through having gone above and beyond in trying to make things right with a customer, and knowing they've given their company a reputation for doing everything to make things right when things go wrong.

See, that's the thing with customer service - good customer service isn't shown when everything goes smoothly. Rather, truely good customer service is demonstrated with how well a company can recover and correct when things DON'T go well.

...and getting angry gives them no incentive to go above and beyond for you.

Thus far, it sounds like they're working for you. That's cool.

Re: A question about the delivery period

Well, I was very calm and polite on the phone today. And the person I spoke to seemed to think my phone call was in place. Now let's hope they send me an e-mail soon...

I can't wait to get my hands on this guitar!
