A Universe MC for 1500 euro? Is it a good deal?

I was at a guitar fair in Antwerp, Belgium and there it stood in front of me: The Mighty Universe MC!! I checked the guitar, it has some dings and the trem is a little rusty but action and neck looked perfect.

I was totaly blown away by the swirl....

What does mc's go for these days? Does the quality of the swirl has influence on the value of the guitar?

I saw the guitar at the end of the fair and asked his adress, I suppose it is not sold.

Do you think this is a 'once in a lifetime' chance?

It's hardly a "once in a lifetime" deal, but if YOU like the swirl, then chances are it's a decent price. That seems about average for an MKR swirl, or a "player" ATD. But...it depends on the swirl, etc. Swirls are a very personal thing- you either love 'em or hate 'em.

It's not expensive at all in Europe... Buy it if you like it!

jsdestrait, you must be very big...

I agree. IF you like it, buy it. Worry about replacing stuff later. Frets can be replaced, as well as the trem, and even the pups. If the swirl is a killer and no other damage on it, go for it.

I meant, 1500 euros for an Uvmc is not very expensive for Europe (but it still expensive for a guitar!!!).
2 months ago, a black second hand universe was for sale for the same price : 1100 POUNDS = 1600 euros) in a London shop and it did not worth it...
but the fact is that an "uvmc" is an unique peace of art, you won't see the same swirl on another guitar... So go for it

Js (who's not so big... Sadly enough! )

Check out if the following criteria are fullfiled : Price (1500 Euros : fine) + Swirl (depending on your taste) + good state (no "monstruous" pitch) + feel on the fingerboard = buy it. This also supposes that you know and love the soung of MC.
