Announcement

You folks selling guitars and only accepting checks, cashiers checks, or money orders are funny. No way will I ever blindly send a check for that amount of money to someone hoping that my item is delivered. You're not selling t-shirts here.
Get a paypal.

Re: Announcement

I think the chap is spot on, you can ask for 3% to cover PayPal fees but if you think I'm going to send $$$ to people I don't know..........

Take this for example

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48816

I'd buy his maple fingerboard MII DX in a heartbeat if
a) Lenny was more informative and nicer in his replies
b) took Paypal so I can pay with a CC and have some protection

PayPal is the way to go chaps and also be nicer and informative.
As much as I want that MII DX there's no way I'm going to even bother contacting the seller....

Re: Announcement

I don't think Paypal charges on there personal accounts..... for either sending or receiving funds. So jumping this guy for giving his opinion is kinda lame.
Calling his post stupid or ignorant is senseless. Besides with as much fraud that is going on, I feel the same way. If I plan on selling something I'm also going to include any transaction fees..... bottom line if I truly want to sell something I WILL try to accommodate the buyer. Both parties should feel comfortable with the transaction. Same with making purchases..... trust no one when it comes to your hard earned money...... JMHO

Re: Announcement

It all comes down to references and common sense.

The way the money is handled is irrelevant. Just cause person A) takes paypal doesnt mean there not fraudulant and just cause person B) only takes cash, check or mo doesnt mean there the real deal..

Thats what makes that post ignorrant.

You have to be a safe buyer ask for photos that he doesnt have like inside the electronics cavity, or a close up of a specific knob on a amp. If they cant provide them then dont do it.

Ask for references, ask for phone numbers which many dont do, ask for a business phone number and call and verify there employment. I do it on big trades from people with little feedback. All you have to do is call there work and ask if so and so does in fact work there.. Employers dont know if your a credit agency, debt collector, or employer.

Its about being safe, and a smart buyer, not about payment methods.

Re: Announcement

This isn't e-bay. Paypal doesn't protect you when you make jemsite transactions. Someone who accepts paypal here can rip you off just as easily as someone only accepting checks or MO's.

Are you kidding, I'm here to purchase a guitar, and make sure I get it. To blindly send someone a check is foolish. Do you honestly think I'm here to start trouble with a post like that? And ignorant? I think my post is warning people of ignorant action.
Please, maybe it's to look after people trying to buy a guitar, like myself in the hopes they dont send 2500 bucks off and never see a guitar and lose their hard earned cash. So please take it for what it is.

PAYPAL is not a net to catch you if you fall.. And I think the other person is right it wont outside of ****.

Sending a check is no less safe than sending paypal. I dont care how the person accepts payment if im secure in that person.

To the other guy posting if the person isnt giving you the answers you need by all means find it somewhere else. What paypal is going to make that person better??

ITS COMMON SENSE PEOPLE.. this isnt rocket science and payment methods doesnt make one more secure than any other. USE YOUR HEADS.

Re: Announcement

And by the way, I can hold a transaction on my card and stop it if my guitar isn't at my door when it should be.

Re: Announcement

This is why we all have feedback, on e-bay, here, and also Paypal's verified buyers seller reputation number. Mine are as follows:

E-bay (380)(100%)
iTrader on Jemsite (2) I know it says (1) but Max over at Cottam Guitars, I guess forgot to leave it for me, for those Evos' I sold him)
Paypal (76)

Feedback is the best tool to work with when dealing with good over the internet.
