Anyone else think Englands 7 string guitar prices suck?

I live in england and I consider all 7 strings in england to cost to much, and not be available enough. I had to buy my last guitar from america to save money and I think this sucks

Any thoughts?

Expand that to all guitars in the UK and I'll agree with you. I presume you meant UK not England. I'm not aware of guitars being cheaper in Scotland, Wales or NI.

Wise words! Perhaps one day we'll get sensible prices here.

Thriving guitar industry? Perhaps not either! But we do have a fantastic musical history in this country. Even Hendrix had to be here to be discovered!

I'd love to know the rational behind our exorbitant guitar prices though. If you can save money by importing them privately why can major suppliers match the price? They should be able to undercut anything an individual can achieve. Any distributers out there care to comment?

It will still remain considerably cheaper than buying new from the UK. I will never buy a high-end axe from the UK.....certainly not new anyway.
Secondhand yeah, thats no problem......but I would still rather buy from US! Even if the prices did go up!

I guess it will all come down to the % rise for the new axes and whether this will have a knock on effect to second hand prices.
I believe some of the online prices for new in this country are only £100 - £200 off at the moment, so a rise as small as 10% will close the gap considerably. Second hand prices will take a little longer to change.

Just to trow a spanner in here but what if Headstock seizes this opportunity to raise their preices as well?
It's not just US price increase - it's Ibanez price increase and my guess is it will affect prices everywhere so if you have always wanted to get a specific Ibanez guitar - my advice would be to get it before Friday.
I'm doing just that.
