Attitude on Snipping
Just curious what the attitude is about what is called sniping on the BAY (Bidding at the last second and not giving time to get out bid, of course my bid may have been too low and not covering their max bid). I just won an auction for an LNG, and I sniped it at the last second, and I mean manually by entering a bid, not using software or anything like that. I feel guilty, and if it was one of the user here, I'm sorry but I wanted it also and was watching it the whole time.
But, I learned long ago if I want something on an auction site to do it at the last second. And I feel the previous bidder should have had a higher max bid.

Re: Attitude on Snipping
I got no problem with it. You bid enough you win. If you don't you lose no matter how much time is left. I won a very nice Strat Plus by one cent in the last two secs

Re: Attitude on Snipping
I don't understand why anyone who seriously wants something on ebay doesn't snipe - and feeling guilty about it is just daft talk. If you feel that guilty, just pay and tell the seller to give it to the next highest bidder.

Re: Attitude on Snipping
That's how to win an auction. And hope you have the highest max bid. I don't understand why people even bid on it for six days and run up the price, then cry when they lose.

Re: Attitude on Snipping
I could tell the guy was fishing for the reserve price, because the buy-it-now stayed up as the bid count kept rising and highest bidder remained the same. When he finally found the reserve and it sat there, I knew his max bid had to be close to what the current bid was, so it was an easy snipe then.

Re: Attitude on Snipping
I look at it like this.
You know how much you want to bid from the start of it.
Why put it out there at the beginning so people can see if they want it more than you.
Everyone has the same shot to buy it.
All i do is wait last 5 seconds and put what i would pay for it and not feel bad that i paid too much.
100 percent of the time i win it for way less than i expected.
Do i feel guilty? heck no , because even ebay teaches you to bid this way.

I never bid on any ebay item until the last 5-10 seconds.

Have you seen "Enemy at the Gates" with Jude Law and Ed Harris? I am the Vasily Zaytsev of Ebay sniping.

I hate it when it happens to me... but I get over it in 2 seconds flat.

It's pretty much the best way to actually win an auction so no worries here man

Re: Attitude on Snipping
I only use buy it now. If the item is something I want, I'm not interested in losing it to save some money. If money is that tight I shouldn't buy it - as there is a risk with every item you buy unseen, I only spend money I can afford to lose.
