Bad Trade - 5 Months Waiting for RG7620 from Forum Member

So, I've got an ongoing issue with another member over a trade. It's Dankynugs, and I wasn't going to mention his name, but he hasn't responded to phone calls, PMs, or emails for over 2 months, and hasn't even been on the forum in over a month now. I PMed Glen about this a few weeks back, but figured I'd give Sal another chance to set things right before I posted, but I guess not.

First, let me give you the full history. Toward the end of last year, I traded a Saber to another Jemsite user for a Carvin acoustic-electric, and everything was completely cool, and we left mutual positive trader ratings.

Then in January he posted a Breed bridge pickup for trade, and I called him and we worked out a trade. He then also said he had an RG7620 he was having refinished and asked if I'd be interested in trading for it as well. So, I worked out a deal with him to trade him an RG550 body and neck, bridge, hardware, and 3 Dimarzios for the RG7620 (when the painting was done) and the Breed bridge pup.

Well, he got my guitar (he even posted pics of it in the forum! - http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57463), and told me that he was still waiting on the guy painting the 7 string. Since I had done a previous good deal with him, that was fine with me. He was keeping me up to date, at one point even offering to cash me out for my 550 and pickups. But, before we worked that out, he told me the guy was finally done painting it and he was going to send the guitar out. So, I was still waiting, and I'd ask him every week or so if it was going out, and he'd PM me back saying it would, but I’d still never get it, and he'd send me some excuse about only shipping on weekends.

Then, after a few more weeks, he apparently had some kind of accident and ended up in the hospital - his wife actually PM'd me from his account to tell me that. And I'm an understanding person, so then I waited a few more weeks to hear from him.

Several weeks ago, he finally sent me a PM saying he was out of the hospital and was going to send out the guitar. I responded telling him I'm glad he was better, and I was looking forward to getting it. Needless to say since I'm posting this, I've never gotten it. I've tried PMs, e-mail, and phone calls, and have had no response. I know he's logged in a few times since he told me he was out of the hospital, but has not returned any of my communication.

Honestly, I don't think Sal's a bad guy or even dishonest, I've had several phone conversations with the guy before he got hurt, and we got on very well. But, I'm kind of at the end of my patience since it's been since January that I've been waiting for the guitar and pickup. And though since he got hurt, he even said he'd send me the guitar, if he's unable to do it for some health reason, that's fine, all I really want is the courtesy of knowing the status of my guitar, and I really don't think that's too much to ask after this much time - of course I'd also like to know why he told me in a PM before he got hurt that it was boxed and ready to ship if it wasn't, but that's another story.

Now since last time I waited 4 months for something and never got it, I called the guy out, and everyone bashed me for some reason, I wasn't going to mention his name. But, this time I went through Glen to me he had no problem if I mentioned his name, so I did.

So, maybe some people will call me a jerk for not being sensitive to his health issues, but he's the one who told me he was better and ready to send it, and that was about 2 or 3 months ago. My trader rating speaks for itself, and I've done a lot of good, honest deals here, and I've waited far more than a reasonable amount of time to bring this out in the open.

A Jerk??? Why would anybody say that after readying your case?

If I'm told my guitar is going out tomorrow and it doesn't, then told again it'd do next day and it didn't, then next one and still doesn't, and so on for so long, I'd be absolutely ppp iii sss eee ddd....

I can understand any possible issue that may arise with anyone, only thing I ask is just to be upfront and respect any commitments made. If you can't, then do not make then to begin with. Well, but there is a lot of that going on here on this specific forum around the subject... no need to mention offenders I'm sure, they're publically well known.

Good luck, hope you and him straighten out things.

Gus.

i am surprised by this. i have done deals with sal in the past as well, and have always been impressed with the way he handled himself. i wasn't aware he had been in an accident.(which might explain why i haven't heard from him) i obviously don't know the specifics of your situation, but with me he has always been a stand up guy.

Re: Bad Trade - 5 Months Waiting for RG7620 from Forum Member

I had trouble dealing with Dankynugs as well:

First time, he backed out of a trade I had with him only a few hours before I shipped my instrument. I was pissed and could have pretended that I had already shipped the guitar, but I let it pass.

Second time, (I bought a guitar from him), he lied to me about the shipping date (I waited over a month) and he didn't follow the instructions we had agreed on, which meant that I had to pay 200€ more than what I was expecting.

I never gave him a negative trader rating but I feel that if other people are having problems with Sal then my experience should be here so that others can be warned in advance.

I'm not dealing with him anytime soon...

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully everything will work out.
It's always confusing when you have people that have had good transaction and people that had bad deals with the same guy.

Did those pickups get there ok Z?

See, here we are, I posted this thread on the 27th of June, and from the "Forum Stalker", as I call it, I see he happened to log in on the 27th after not logging in for about a month, so I assume he logged in because someone told him about this thread - maybe not, but that's a hell of a coincidence. But still no response to me, or even to this thread.

So Sal, if you read this, what's up man? Can I get any kind of communication on this issue?

gpenguins, i'm sorry to hear you are having such a bad time with this deal.
I hope the guy comes forward and does the right thing by you, and you get what's owing to you.

Just for fun here's another update:

Sal (danknugs) contacted me a few weeks ago claiming he was going to start sending me money, a little at a time. To no surprise, I have not seen one cent of this, and not even the courtesy of an email. This also means that he not only must have gotten rod of the 550 I traded to him, but also the 7620 that no longer even belonged to him, because otherwise I assume he would have sent it to me. At this point, I have no sympathy for him, and I just erased a lot of what I was going to write because I'm pretty pissed right now, and don't think I should say certain things in a public forum.

I'm sorry to hear about this, man.

Just one question; Did you happen to pay for the guitar and pickup with Paypal? If so, you could always file a report.

Why don't you contact the fellas in blue (cops)?

I'm in such a process right now due to a scam artist...
I found his ad on-line, took contact, we agreed on how to deal with shipping/paying etc. . But ... It's been over one month, the dude has gotten the $ I sent him and he claims to have sent the guitar. Okay, cool, I'll wait... Except when I rang the courier firm that was supposed to be the ones to deliver the guitar had never heard of him...
"Okay, so I've missunderstood something," I'm thinking. I send him an e-mail and... It came back flying like a boomerang - his e-mail account is closed...
That was it! I googled his name, got his phone number, tried to call a gazillion times - nothing.
Now, eventhough we live in different countries, the cops are after him. Sooner or later they're going to catch the fokker...

One thing about PP is they will do absolutely nothing except listen to your story unless the deal was an evilbay transaction.

Another thing is their entire buyer protection program borders on fraud.... Yu have to meet too many specific details to receive a claim. Further more, a seller only has to provide a tracking number that indicates a package.... any package has been shipped to the buyers zip code to absolve themselves of all responsibility... I found this out the hard way after loosing almost $1100 to a thief in Florida who knew how to work the system. In this case the thief had a UPS tracking number which was for an envelope under 1 pound that PP chose to accept as proof that a Marshall 4x12 cab was shipped to me!

PP's is not really much better/safer than cash in many cases.
