'Bay Auction for an Incredible JC - Sketchy?
Okay, I hesitated to post this because, frankly, I didn't want anyone bidding against me... heh. However, despite being very VERY tempted by this auction, I see a number of red flags. Tell me what you all think:
IBANEZ J CUSTOM 7 STRING GUITAR IN MINT CONDITION !!!
(321047762329)
The red flags I see:
1. Seller's name/other items. Seems to deal in mattress/bedding/etc. Not a huge red flag, but odd nonetheless.
2. Lack of feedback history.
3. Lack of guitar details. No model #, year, etc. nor is there a decent description. Anyone know what J-Custom is pictured there?
4. Lack of detailed photos.
5. Photos dated 2010.
6. A "mint condition" older J-Custom? Really? C'mon man...
7. I emailed the seller asking for more recent pics, more specs, model #, etc. I received no response, but the seller did drop the price slightly after I sent the questions.
So, I'm putting this here because I don't think I've ever been so tempted by an auction. If this is legit, it's my dream JC, and I'd hate to miss out. However, as it stands now, too many red flags to place a bid.
Curious what you all think.

The model is an RG7-1DBK. As to the rest, sorry, no reply, no bid would be my policy.

Fwiw, I also emailed the seller and got no response, noting all the same red flags.

I would skip the guitar but you can get good deals on some pillows.

Agree with everything said here. This auction is dead to me, unless the seller suddenly rouses from his/her coma.

Its also impossible to have bought it brand new a "couple" of years back since its 10 years (or there abouts) old.
Walk away.

He just wrote and said h'de try to sedn more photos tonight or tomorrow. I asked him to write his ebay ID on a piece of paper and include it in one of the photos. He'll also have to jump through a few more hoops though before I'll bite.

That VV was not in great condition and is the common color, the DBK is tough to get, if you want it. I paid more than the DBK to buy an HRG4 with supposed studio use only, which I'd take over any 7-1

That guitar may just be one of those rare "good finds"
The seller may have acquired it, didn't use it or not know much about it.
You're asking the seller to go through the proper motions, though.
If you want it--get it. If it turns into an ugly situation, you can always file a dispute.
Sometimes sellers get stuff in trade, and don't know what they've got.

I agree that the DBK would bring more than a VV, but not when the quality of the DBK is in question........ seller says mint, but there's no pics to prove it. I don't see an extra $700-$1k. It might be there, but the seller hasn't pictured it.
If I had a minty JC on auction, I'd certainly have a ton of photo's posted to prove the condition.
I think we'd all take the HRG4 above a JCRG7..... and pay through the nose to do it........

Exactly why I didn't grab that one. Wasn't thrilled with the big honkin' chips in the finish. Plus, I like the DBK's more.

Believe me, this is what keeps me up at night and makes it so tempting to take a chance. However, even if that's the case, there's no guarantee the previous owner(s) took care of it... or that this seller knows how to properly evaluate a guitar. To the layperson, this guitar may seem mint... but not to any of us.
If anyone here takes a chance and gets it, let me know how everything turned out... and let me know if you'd consider selling it to me... lol.

Nice guitar for sure!! I got offered one of those recently. Is there still a 21 day hold policy on funds deposited to a new seller's account on expensive items???

Thank god someone else bought it. That's a temptation I couldn't afford right now.
