BS Ebay auction? JEM77FP

I saw this on Ebay and had to ask myself: if this is a 15th anniversary model, why are the pickups faded?

Check it out, maybe I'm crazy:

here's the auction

Probably just a bad photo.

You can put down the conspiracy theory handbook now.

Not just in the pics - the singles are a different pink (like the knobs) more fleshy pink, while (for whatever dumb reason) the hum pups are more of a transparent plastic that makes them look orange.

My biggest b$tch about pink pups - why they changed them from the white based pups (like the original 777's had) I'll never know

The 777s had white-based pickups? What do you mean?

Two things to consider about the differences in colour between the hums and the singles: The humbucker bobbins and the single-coil covers may be made from different types of plastic. Furthermore, the humbuckers are soaked in hot wax to pot them, whereas singles are probably dipped without covers on. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the heat and wax has an effect on the colour of the bobbins.

Then they changed the process...

And white based probably isn't correct (white based like the older knobs that were white and the corresponding color was painted on). But at least opaque and even.

Look at any set of pups on an LNG - the color is even between all three pups and the hums aren't "transparent" looking. They're also pink, not orange. I almost think that this was a change when they went to f-spacing, but can't be certain.

No conspiracy theory - if you look at the (excellent) photos of a new FP at www.guitartrader.com you will see the same thing.
