Damn, and I had more ideas too! ;-)

I'm glad to hear it all came to a somewhat happy ending. It's nice to see the good guy win for a change.

I still don't think Gabe 'won' here... but he didn't lose his pants... and neck, parts, body etc... He obviously didn't get what he paid for, but thank goodness he got something for it all.

I'm glad this finally came to an end for ya. But I guess there wasn't any kind of partial refund or a letter of apology, huh? Not a good way to run a business if you ask me...

Harper included a hand-written receipt which had something like 'Thank you for your patience' on it. No apology.

Another couple things now that I've had time to look at the body closely...

1. Monkey grip was not cut properly. The back of the grip doesn't have the cut indent like Jems have. Thought it felt a little odd grabbing onto it.
2. No Lions Claw trem cavity.
3. Trem does not fit cavity.
4. Pickups do not fit (as mentioned before).
5. No routing for selector switch is not made (as mentioned before).

Oh, here are some other things:
1. My gold Low pro edge was returned BROKEN. The fine tune screw was busted off.
2. 1 string holder block is missing.

I'd send if off to have it properly finished then send the bill for the finishing and broken/missing pieces straight to Harpers.

I would too, but then, I doubt Harpers would ever pay that bill either!

I'm glad you at least got some stuff back though, to bad none of it is of any use.

Guys - Harpers is a lost cause. DO NOT deal with Harpers Guitars! No freakin way I want to even deal with him again or even contact him. I'm already working with someone get the stuff fixed on my Jem body.

Oh well... at least I got my stuff back! Plus this thread will probably shy people away from him. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

hey Gabe,
Wow, my third post tonight. I only came by because I haven't been here for months, but I feel your pain. 3, that's THREE years ago I commissioned Jon to do some work for me. $320 I sent him and I never recieved anything except multiple excuses and a one time refund of $50!!!! well, I had always been extremely courteous and professional with him and even offered alternatives to refunding me, but now I have written it off as a loss. It's too bad, because if he ever tries to sells his guitar in my sight, I will lead a campaign to make sure no one buys. I hope his malpractice was worth the price of his career. I don't care what his excuses are...his whole family could have died, I was taught that you handle your business no matter what!

Aw man, this story just gets worse and worse!! I wonder what the final count will be?!?! There is no excuse on this earth that explains this. You accept money to perform a sevice or provide a product, you either do as you say or you fully refund, anything less is a total insult. Even having to refund says you couldn't do what you said. Now you can expect that might happen once or twice, but has ANYbody gotten a full refund?! This is looking like a pattern of repeated "offences".

Damn this sucks. Sorry to hear about your problems with Jon. Hopefully, do to this thread, others will not fall into his low-down dirty rip-off scam.

I was really nice and patient with Jon and I think he takes advantage of that. Once I mentioned lawyers, lawsuits, and e-mail every week, I got the guitar body in about 2 months.

well if it makes ya feel better, you definitely saved me from working with him. I had been thinking of gettong one of his guitars that he advertises on his website. Not now though.

Gabe, i'm in the same boat as you. I ordered a guitar body from Mr. Harper back in 2000 i believe (it's been so damn long i don't even remember the exact order date, cuz i'm still waiting for my body).......and to this day, i still havent received it. His excuse: "it got lost in the shuffle"
I am in the process of verifying the date that he charged my credit card. Once i find this out, i'm going to file charges against him.
After a rather harsh email i sent him, he said the body was in its "final sanding" stages and will be shipped the following week. Well, that was a bunch of bull.
Since then, the man didn't email or call me........
I'm really pissed off, but i am going to either get my damn guitar body, or my money back. I've given him those options many times now.....and it seems the only option he wants is for the law to set the record straight. I'm sure Gabe and I aren't the only ones getting ripped off......but there is just no excuse for a customer to wait well over a year and a half for one guitar body.
He told me it was going to be 2 weeks..........so far it's looking like 2 years and more.

Do NOT order anything from this guy........he WILL continue to screw ppl over until he is thrown in jail. I will do everything i can so he doesn't rip me off.
