Here's a quick shot of the top, to give you an idea of the pickup routes. These are Bartolini 492's, and are the same size as DiMarzios. Great wood though. Note the purpleheart dots in the fretboard as well.

Re: Christopher Woods?

You know, Chris contacted me and told me he'd be happy to work to get the body righted or replaced, even after I got it off the 'Bay. Seriously now, you really can't ask for a more standup move than that. I wouldn't have asked him for anything, and he offered.

Glad to hear Chris stepped up. I truly believe he cares about his products despite a somewhat rocky start. He seems to have the communication thing much better these days.

Re: Christopher Woods?

Heres a pic of the body he sent me its ace but it's been like this since August been on the waiting list since then for the neck and still no joy time to go to John Good ( Legacy One ) he said he can have the neck for me in 3 weeks not 4 months and then the waiting list is removed from the website plus I got 2 more bodies of Chris on November 21 and still no word of them been sent It's Getting Old.
Ps He didn't do the art work. And don't get me wrong his work is the best its just like ( pulls hair out of head and screams) .

Re: Christopher Woods?

I've got necks ordered from Christopher and from John. As Tom Petty says, "the waiting is the hardest part."

Re: Christopher Woods?

I'm sure Legacy One turns out some fine work, but I will always go to Christopher Woods before Legacy One. There may be a bit of a wait time, but that should be taken care of when he starts taking his '07 orders.
I have a guitar that is just about finished from Woods, and im on the waiting list for a neck/body combo starting in February.
No matter what I throw at Chris, he always says he can do it. 6 string, 7 string, add this, add that, fixed, floyd etc.
We have exchanged exactly 69 emails so far related to my orders (Good 'ol gmail, keeping track of that for me). My current order, the '07 order, and the order I canceled due to low funds (Which I wouldn't mind picking up again now that I just won a good chunk of change gambling ) and not once did he say, "Sorry, I can't do that" Or "It can't be done" He always said "Sure thing"

But like everyone knows, the wait times can be a little hard to get through. But as long as he keeps to the new schedule in '07, That should all but be eliminated.

Nothing against Legacy, i'm sure you do good work, but i'll take experience over speed any day. (Plus I hate those damn EVH stripes )

Re: Christopher Woods?

I have bought alot of stuff from Christopher too and everything has been perfect. I've never had to wait longer than 5 weeks to get something, most of the time I'll get my stuff in 3 or 4. I sent him a custom made body blank and he cut it for me and had it back in 1 week after receiving it. He always answers my e-mails in a timely fashion and has also never told me he couldn't do something. He told me that he plans on making alot of necks starting in '07 and the turnaround times will be alot lower. Personally I don't mind to wait for things as long as I know its going to be exactly how I want it when I get it.

Re: Christopher Woods?

Both builders seem like really decent guys, respond to emails, etc., and appear to do great work. My neck orders were placed on Oct. 21 (Legacy One) and May 23 (Christopher Woods). When both necks arrive, I'll be sure to post pics and a review.

Re: Christopher Woods?

i bought a jem body off him , it was one of his mess ups , said his cnc machine was set up wrong and took out too much of the neck pocket , he glued in another peice of wood and re-cut it .

i got the body today and am pretty impressed. everything on it looks cut out well , just needs a little finish sanding and paint .

i still havn't quite decided on paint yet , i was thinking about a jem77gmc swirl but i still am not quite sure who i am going to send it to because i still need a neck made for it . one company can make the neck but doesn't offer swirl , the other company offers swirl but can't do the custom neck i want . i wanted to send everything to one place so i'd know everything was going to work out fine when i got it all back .

Re: Christopher Woods?

I'm also waiting on a body that had a small glue joint imperfection, but I think some dark stain will cure that. I'll post pics when it arrives. I'm looking to update my Jem. The old body, all of a sudden, is starting to bore me (Alder/tung finish.)

So keep your eyes open, I may be selling off this body and pickguard,

Re: Christopher Woods?

From Chris's site:
12-10-06

Current orders - The next few weeks are going to be extremely busy. I have a good start on finishing all of my current orders this month but there is a lot more to do. I shipped 20 guitar bodies last week and planning 25 bodies plus a few necks this week. The last half of the month will be all about guitar necks and the complete guitar orders. Hoping to start January with a clean slate.

Sounds promising. It has to be hard to keep up when you're the only one doing the work.
