Re: Christopher Woods?
Hi everyone,
I just want to post a quick follow up on the body I ordered from Christopher.
After reading a few of the earlier posts I decided Chistopher was having problems with the painting end of some of the orders and decided to ask for a refund.
He was great about it and sent me a letter and a full refund within 24 hours, plus he added on Paypal fees.
He apologised gracefully and confessed that while he had a lot of success on the custom fabric finishes on a limited basses. The volume of the orders was overwhelming him and without a full paint booth he was just creating more headaches hen finished pieces.
I truly believe he is a stand up guy and does good work. But the painting and finishing just got the better of him.
I would deal with him again for neck and body work but will hold off on finishing until he has the full set-up.
Best of luck to all and I hope to see some links to finished works posted here in the future.
Thanx
IBR

Re: Christopher Woods?
I am going to be ordering a couple of replacement bodies very soon, and am curious as to who has the best examples. I don't mind ordering from Chris provided he can actually deliver. I figure it is either Chris or EKG, but I would like to hear from people who have used both.

Re: Christopher Woods?
Whenever I emailed EKG i'd rarely get a reply. When I was looking into getting a custom body made, EKG would reply to maybe one or two emails, but when i'd be ready to pay and i'd email to confirm everything, i'd never hear back.
Christopher Woods
does have his scheduling issues, but I never had a problem with getting ahold of him.

I just want to have the confidence that when the bodies show up, everything fits like it is supposed to.

Re: Christopher Woods?
Neither one of them will have a problem with producing a proper body.

Sorry. I don't get to my email as often as I like and when I do, I have a lot to go thru.

Re: Christopher Woods?
Just as a follow-up, I did hear from Mr. Woods, and my neck is supposed to be ready in about a week. Can't wait!

Re: Christopher Woods?
Im dying to see your neck Quik when you get it. Please post pics! Im going to go ahead and get in line when Chris starts taking neck orders again. Ive shopped around quite a bit seeing if there was a viable alternative but other options besides Chris seems too expensive and complicated.
Prestige necks
on the Bay are well over 200 these days and by the time the new fingerboard is put on and refretted its more like a 4-500 investment. Eww

Re: Christopher Woods?
Lol I almost did the same thing. Only thing that stopped me was that I needed a Chrome Lopro or Original Edge. If I could have gotten away with Black or Cosmo I would have already pulled the trigger.

Re: Christopher Woods?
Well I ended up buying a RG2550, RG1570, RG760, and a RG570. I think I am going to end up selling the 2550 and using what I want on the rest. That is why I need to pull the trigger on a couple of bodies here real soon.

Re: Christopher Woods?
I didn't have a problem with the body that I got from Chris, although the lateness was insane. If I had asked for it unfinished or tung oiled I would have had it in 8 months. I was just what I wanted, after all. The finish is what killed it for me. There was purpleheart in it, and that turns brown if you oil it or don't clear it so it needed to be cleared. I wish it could have worked out better. Even after a year and a half I wasn't happy to cancel it, I just didn't think it was going to ever get done. I didn't get really pissed off at him until he decided to just sit on my neck for months for no reason whatsoever.

Re: Christopher Woods?
That is exactly what I don't want to happen. I don't want anything but an unfinished bodies, and I can't wait 8 months for them.
