I'm curious to hear what your luthier says . At first glance , you may not see issues but if he's good at his trade, he'll find or not find issues in the trueness of the neck or the installation of the frets.

Mine was supposed to be done Jan 19th, then Feb 23, now it's Mar 16th. How long will he change those dates around?

There's a guy on mg.org and sevenstring with a poll if his body will arrive on time from Woods as promised...Let's just say it's not looking good for the "yes" team.

Re: Christopher Woods?

I went to his site to check on my status and guess what? The site is down. Go figure. You ever get the feeling that in a rip-off scam, someone creates multiple accounts and posts that they actually received stuff. All you have to do is build yourself a guitar to the specifications that "someone" else made and respond to some e-mails? I mean, it'd be easy.

I'm interested in starting a lawsuit. I get a 25% discount on this kind of stuff if anyone is willing to help. I think you can start a multiple person suit or go to the Better Business Bureau.

Re: Christopher Woods?

Actually, Boyd, it's a shame the site was down, because you'd see that yours is actually scheduled to be done this week. Now, I didn't say it was done, just on the schedule to be done. Same as mine is scheduled to be done yesterday (after 5 years).

To be fair, the website is almost never down, because I check it every day. Who knows why, it's like Ralphie and his Little Orphan Annie secret decoder ring in the mailbox. Well, except that Ralphie eventually got his little piece of Ovaltine propaganda.

Now, against all my better judgment and instincts, I have to try to be optimistic. This is approximately the 84th day of the year, and he has shipped 44 guitars YTD. That is a rate of one project finished about every other day, which is moving along pretty damned well.

Of course, what I don't like is the schedule that gets a remix every couple months so that you can go from the "Top Ten" list for next-up for completion, and then find yourself mysteriously in the bottom 10. I guess if your project is difficult, you wait ten years, if it's easy, it goes to the front of the line, who knows.

Seems like mine and a few others have been on there since 05 or 06. The Cheap Trick guitar comes to mind. Other orders come in and go out without much wait. Who knows.

I don't think it's a smoke and mirrors internet business that just pretends to build things, I just think it's a mis-managed business. No, that's not accurate. Mis-managed would indicate the business is being managed, albeit badly. I think a more accurate description would be un-managed. Like if you had a kindergarten lemonade stand take over a custom guitar shop. No, that's too kind. Maybe if you took all the senior members of US Congress and gave them a business to run. Now we're talking.

PS - I'll let yall know if I ever get my axe.

I checked it the next day and it was back up and I was scheduled to be done on Mar. 16, but his site doesn't change now. I feel like we've all been scammed and only a few people are getting their stuff if he deems it to be so to shut some others up. He has gone completely silent after a year of me sending him nice e-mails. Nothing mean and being completely polite and I have heard nothing back. I've tried both his sales and questions e-mail and I've heard nothing.

I feel the NEED to report him to the BBB so he either starts running his business right, or not at all.

Re: Christopher Woods?

I was thinking the very same thing, it's been suspiciously quiet on the website lately. Moreso than usual. On the one hand, it's easy to want to be optimistic, to hope that maybe there's just so much getting done in the shop that the next update will list a new set of 25 guitars as done and ready to go. Entirely despite the fact that a normal shop would be shouting this from the rooftops, to satisfy the concerns of impatient customers, but let's face it, this isn't a normal shop we're talking about.
On the OTHER hand (the not optimistic one), it's not far-fetched to imagine a world where a bank got to be about 5 mortgage payments behind, and even in today's world of slackers living in houses they can't afford, the banks still have some standards left and have to foreclose eventually. I try not to imagine a house with a "For Sale By Bank" sign out front and a makeship guitar shop out back, neither of which with people or guitars in them.

I know scenarios like that are a little over the top, but let's face it, it's not uncommon these days, and it's been my experience that people who have zero business sense aren't exactly pro at balancing their personal budget either. And while some of us are willing to suffer years worth of his excuses, lending institutions aren't known for that degree of patience. All I'm saying is that if someone posts here later down the road that they saw woods in line at the soup kitchen, and all of our pre-paid gear being auctioned off by a foreclosure liquidation service, you all heard me predict if first.

Re: Christopher Woods?

guys, i hear all that is going on and i understand completely what everyone is going through - i was there also with my project taking just under two years to get to me - unpainted - but atleast i got the neck and body (plus all my hardware). I even needed to go to his house to pick it up (was in LA for work so took the time to visit him) - but after meeting him i actually felt bad for being so angry at him - he really does have a difficult time getting through the work because he has a lot of difficulty saying no - (when he can't say no - he says nothing - and that is what is probably most upsetting!)

i think he is starting to get the concept of what is necessary to run his business effectively and i really hope he does get there because he does have some talent - but the thing is - his heart really is in the right place and thats what made me go from wanting to throttle him to feeling bad. He does have great concepts for the future - and probably needs to expand sooner than later (a concern for any small business owner) i just think he was too excited at the start and all it did was delay everyone and that may be his downfall.

but i still hopes he comes through for you all - and yes i would order from him again
