Classifieds ripoff: Robert Tyler = Thief

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I'll put it here anyway.

I know it's been over a month, but I've had Glen trying to contact this guy, too, and nothing has come of it. So I bought this MXR Evh Phase 90 from this guy, well, I paid for it anyway:

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34832

Everything seemed cool. I'd seen him selling stuff in the past, so I had no reason to worry about anything. He was even selling a AANJ neck that he was going to send to me, and let me try out before I bought it, so I figured the transaction was safe. So, I send my money the Tuesday before Easter, and finally a week later he PMs me to tell me he got it. Then, I never hear from the douchebag again. Hell, he hasn't even logged onto Jemsite since then. The funny part is that he had the balls to keep asking where my money was when it was delayed by the Easter mail.

Anyway, so I'm out 75 bucks, and I filed with the USPS both to get my money back from the money order and for mail fraud, although I doubt they'll do anything about the mail fraud one because 75 bucks isn't very much, although maybe if they'd start prosecuting little asshats like this one, then there's probably be less of this happening. But, they said I may be able to get my money back if they contact him and he can't prove that he sent anything out.

If anyone else has done any business with this guy, please let me know, I need some more information on him.

It just really sucks that you try to have a cool forum where people can do business with each other. I've bought and sold stuff on Jemsite from everywhere around the world - all over the US, Canada, the UK, Turkey, Slovenia, Sweden, Australia - and it's some little jerk from New Jersey that rips me off. Nothing against New Jersey, just happens to be where he's from.

Anyway, sorry, just needed to vent a little, and give the lowdown on this moron. Again, if anyone has done business with this guy and has any information, please PM me.

Dude, been there, done that, Unfortunately without hearing from the other folks whom have dealt with him it's hard to get a grasp of it being a 1 time oversight (and he's been away for sometime) or wether it was a deliberate fraudulent attempt.

These things happen to us all once in awhile, I myself have dealt with people all over the planet, most of the time, if i mess up, i let the buyer/tradee know as soon as i possibly can, as should most people, Chaulk it upto experiance bro, and remember, Karma, he will get his at one stage

That sucks, man.

What kind of pathetic tool rips people off for a lousy $75 anyway? I'm thinking, though, given that people have traded with him the past and he hasn't logged in recently, it's possible that something's happened to him. (Accident, illness, etc.)

Hope things work out for you.

Re: Classifieds ripoff: Robert Tyler = Thief

You know, as the guy's MIA (hasn't even logged in since the deal in question), has a long track record as a reliable customer/seller, and as this is such a small transaction for him to start screwing people on, could we maybe update the title to something less accusatory until we hear what happened to the guy? To me, it looks more like something happened to him than he tried to screw someone.

Just my two cents.. I'd hate to see the guy come back after, oh, four months in the hospital to see this...

Well, I don't know how long the track record is as being reliable, he's only been a member since last august and has only got the one negative feedback.
Having said that, I know that sometimes things go bad, but some communication would be nice, hope in the end that it all works out.

I think some of the Jersey guys were just looking to reach out to our fellow Garden Stater, to make sure all was well and .....stuff. You know, help out in need and all that. ;-)

The negative feedback was in regards to this particular transaction, and as gpenguins hemself said, he'd seen a number of prior deals where nothing went wrong. Remember, this trader rating thing is pretty new, and a lot of guys didn't go back and rate every previous trade they've done.

All I'm saying is don't jump to conclusions until we KNOW he screwed someone - spending some time trying to track him down (with maybe some friendly help from the NJ crowd ) would be a good idea, IMO. If nothing else, because if he did screw gpenguins it;s tough to break the kneecaps of someone you haven't located.

Re: Classifieds ripoff: Robert Tyler = Thief

thing is gpenguins was a bit careless with his documentation, and hence a lookup for this guy is not possible. it's been a while without replies and without shipment, so regardless of the reason, the buyer has been "screwed". hopefully this will resolve itself, but that seems remote at this time... glen

I'm seeing a moral here...

Just be glad it was with something small, man. Next time, keep everything on file, not just until after it arrives, but for rather a while afterwards, just in case. It's just a good habit to be in.

thanks Jim.
