Complete and utter Moron on e-bay...

I'm sorry for starting a thread, but I need some back up from my Bro's here and I know no one will see it in the other thread, this moron named Rory on 3bay thinks he's a expert on Ibanez guitars because he owned one for 3 months and read the blue book of bull $hit. So I tried to tell him everything about his auction and guitar was wrong, but I got a big F-U (clearly he doesn't believe the actual print catalogs!!). So now he's going to other peoples auctions and telling them incorrect info as well, see here:

260210020271

Clearly this is a 1990 with a refinish, but of course "Rory" tells him some complete bull and he believes it. Now I already sent this guy the correct info. You guys mind doing the same, and please be nice, he hasn't done anything but listen to a moron.

this was Rory's original auction BTW:

God what a retard...

Not to argue with you but is it possible it was a special run for a guitar store? I will say that finish is one that doens't seem "normal" for a 550

Dont seem normal? Dude, look at the logo. The top swoosh over the "I" isnt long enough and the front swoosh isnt to the end of the headstock.

Agreed. It's a refinish as far as I'm concerned, and going on the serial, it's a 1990. Very misleading auction. Vile guitar too.

Re: Complete and utter Moron on e-bay...

I'm not seeing the problem.
2 different guitars & sellers.
Neither send up a red flag.

I had a 565 that was refined in that marble paint. Purple...I think BammBamm has/had it.

Aside from some missinformation and poor research, I don't see any reason to correct anything.

Internet purchases are sketchy at best. FleaBay doesn't make it any easier. We all know, through experience, what is & isn't a good deal.
We all know, or should, what is factory & what is not.

I sent an email directing the seller to many different places to get correct information on his guitar and invited him to come to this site.

I don't think brow-beating the seller is the right thing to do.

I'm not talking about the seller, I'm talking about the guy named Rory who after owning 1 Ibanez guitar for 3 months thinks he has all the answers and gave this seller the wrong info..

Most 550L's were ordered by the dealer, but you could only get them in Black most of the time, only 1 year was offered the DY (i've only seen 1 in my life) You could also get them in a few other factory solid colors. But this has never been a color offered by ibanez, ever.

Another thing about Rory's guitar.....if that is the actual serial number,it's an 89.

Re: Complete and utter Moron on e-bay...

I think there are a few things that tell it all in this "Rory's" auction:

1) In his item specifics, he shows Edition: JEM. Uh, how is this guitar even remotely a Jem?
2) What sane person expects payment in 6 hours?
3) He says it's a 92 guitar yet the serial number makes it an 89.
4) In the Q&A he says on a scale of 1-10, it is a 10 yet the fingerboard is really dirty/worn, the neck plate on the back is worn off, and the pickguard is scratched. Uh, 10 means mint without a mark on it.
5) I'm not buying the whole cut off finger business either.

And do these things used really go for $600 or $700 in this condition?

On the 1990 Lefty in the first listing, this guy seems to believe that there is no way that anyone could finish the guitar "underneath" the decal so it must be a factory finish, yet the decal is not on like the factory does. Apparently he doesn't realize that you can buy decals.

This is his response to me:

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree. The finish is 100% original. Everything else about the guitar is, too... and I cannot imagine why anyone would go through the trouble of changing a decal. But I appreciate your opinion. :-)
It was so tempting to message him back with "to trick people like you"..but hopefully you guys will send him a message as well telling him its a refinish.

No, they usually go for $3-$400 in that condition with original finish, rarer colors can push them past $500. Although that DY I saw went for $1000, it was a case queen and probably 1 of less than 20 in the world.

Now I feel like a whore..
I actually want that guitar back, but the current owner Kevan of Tremol-no fame isn't parting with her any time soon, it seems.
He has some prototype parts on her from Graph-tech as well as being the test fighter for new Tremol-no products.
One day, I guess. I did get an RG-ART, though, so I can't complain too much.
