Curiosity... Opinions on ****?

Okay guys, I have two questions. The first is this, how many of you avid JemSiters are teenagers like myself (I'm 16)? And the second question is, why do so many of you guys seem to find **** abominable? I happen to like **** because I've gotten alot of killer deals through it! I mean, is it just bad experiences or what? okay guys, thanks for your time.

****?
I personally like ****, too. I get a kick out of the animosity, if you will, towards it. I'm curious to see some responses also. My only thought is that it's easy to get ripped off if you're not careful. I guess it's always a gamble to buy something on ****.

not to sound like a butthead but when your spending 1700+ dollars on a guitar and 129 on a galveston theres a big difference.. Not implying anything but alot of the horror storys have come from the higher end stuff..

Nope. I'm not a teenager, but my wife would swear that I'm MUCH worse

Out of well over 100+ **** deals over the past 5 years, I've only gotten screwed twice, both on items that were under $300.

I've had great luck on the pricier stuff...some of which has gotten up over the $3K mark. It's all in being careful, being smart and dealing with the right people.

**** is a great place to get great gear for great deals. However there is a risk involved. You have no clue what the intentions of the seller really are because you have never met them or played the guitar (if that's what your buying). But when I got my Universe there and could not have been more pleased with how well everything went.

I got screwed over only on one deal really, for a Roland Groove box that showed up not working. I was able to repair it, but the A$$ was unresponsive after I complained about it. The big trend as of late is everyone is trying to recoup their losses on shipping fees. I've had people selling something dirt cheap, but then want 25 dollars to ship something that would fit in a FREE Priority mail box and then cost only $3.70 to ship.

Anymore when I bid, the 1st thing I look for after the initial price is the shipping charges, my newest and biggest peeve about ****.

I've had some sucsess with emailing and saying essentially that I know how much it costs to ship said item, I'll pay for that and maybe a couple dollars for your gas or time, but beyond that, if you want a sale, you'll haggle a bit, otherwise, I'm not buying. Some people go for it, others admit that it is the only way they are actually making a profit on some things like CPUs or other PC componants. To them, I say F-U !

I've also dashed a few people's hopes on that shipping cost by bidding on an item that was close to home and then just picking it up.

Very true about shipping! I look at that carefully as well. Sometimes when you add shipping to the cost of the item, you're better off buying brand new -- especially now that internet companies are more often giving free ground shipping.
