Curly Music

Ok, I don't know if any of you guys from the UK have noticed these guys on e-bay? Basically they're a dealer for the North-West based in Liverpool. You'll know who they are because they've got about 10-12 early Ibanez guitars listed (all with a mark-up of about £200 more than what you should actually pay, but let's ignore that for a second.)

Just a word to the wise really. I bought 2 of these cheap Fender copies that they rave about. I phoned the shop up and asked him point blank how they would compare to the same models from different countries (for example, how would they stack up against a Mexican Strat or Japanese Strat.) The guy on the other end of the phone really bigged them up saying that they were leagues ahead of a Squier, but just under a Mexican and that they were a pick-up upgrade away from being better and a decent pro-level guitar.

What a load of horsesh*t!

These things show up and for one they're the wrong damn colour to what I ordered. Secondly these guitars aren't even half as good as the cheapest crappiest Affinity Squier that has ever been released and I truly mean that. I'd take 1 of those instead of 10 of the ones Curly Music were offering. Thirdly, the truss rods didn't work in either guitar!

So obviously I rang up and got the run around for a refund despite them telling me there would be no worries or hassle with me returning them if I didn't like them. It was "*such and such* isn't here today so we can't do any refunds" or "*so and so* is on lunch so I can't do anything, but we'll ring you back." Suprise suprise they never rang back and I had to chase them every step of the way. Eventually I got a refund so long as I sent the guitars back on my own dime. Fair enough I guess, but considering the products were faulty it left a bad taste in my mouth to have to pay postage on 2 guitars that weren't even the right colour.

Long story short, if you decide you want one of these guitars, tread with caution. At the very least I would go to the shop itself to inspect it in the flesh. They will lie to you, so be prepared.

Re: Curly Music

I've actually heard some stories about them (second-hand).

They're like street vendors, or something. Too late, too late will be the cry when the man with the bargains has passed you by.

Re: Curly Music

I can't believe it, the first auction of their's that I look at after my thread and these are a few excerpts:

Quote:
IBANEZ RG570 + IBANEZ HARD CASE + JAP MODEL

DO NOT MISS THIS, IF YOUR AFTER A VERY RARE ROCK GUITAR THEN THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!!
Because, of course, RG570's are as rare as rocking horse sh*t

Quote:
THIS MODEL IS A 2000 MODEL AND IS FINISHED IN CANDY RED WHICH IS VERY RARE FOR THIS GUITAR, ALSO THE SCRATCHPLATE HAS BEEN UPGRADED ASWELL,
Maybe I'm being pedantic, but the RG570's don't *have* and scratchplate to 'upgrade'!

Quote:
THIS IS THE REAL DEAL A JAPANESE IBANEZ WITH AN EDGE TREM AND ALSO THE V8,V7 PICKUPS WHICH ARE ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDING PICKUPS EVER MADE
lol

Quote:
THIS IS THE GUITAR PERFECT FOR ANY STYLE OF MUSIC THAT CAN BE PLAYED WITH COMFORT AND THE AMAZING SOUND TO GO WITH IT!
Yep, because when I think of blues, this is what I imagine

Quote:
DONT MISS THIS YOU WILL NOT GET ANOTHER ONE OF THESE ANYWHERE!!
Except for e-bay. Daily.

Quote:
THE NEAREST GUITAR TO THIS IS THE IBANEZ RG2570 WHICH RETAIL AT £700.00 SO SAVE YOURSELF THE EXTRA PENNIES.
More fibs. The closest thing is the RG1570 which is under £500! And if you don't believe me, check this out: http://www.lifeismusic.co.uk/guitar/...ctri-6196.aspx

Is it me or does this kind of pitching technique seem eerily familiar to some of the Chibanez auctions?

Re: Curly Music

I've seen some crap on the 'bay in the past, but that crap is like the stuff that crap craps.

Crap.

Jeebus, what a strange word.

Anyway, yeah...I was just on that site a while ago, and searched for 570's (I want to add another to my collection), and didn't see that one. Lemme go look at the auction...

Don't kid yourself. Being from Liverpool, I know this shop and can tell you it has been going for years and will probably continue for many more.

Im not sure about these guitars listed on eB@y, but I can tell you that they have had some cracking Ibanez models in the past, ALL GENUINE... From early RG's - 777DY Jems - ATD Universe Swirls.. All well priced too.

Now dont get me wrong, I personally aint a fan of the place, but will correct you on this - they're not cowboys!
