Custom guitar...
Hey, guys.
I'm looking for a good reasonable luthier in the United States that can give me a quote on a
custom
guitar.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Re: Custom guitar...
Can you provide a little more info as to what you're looking for? I recently had someone make me a custom guitar and the experience was excellent.

Re: Custom guitar...
Well, what I want is pretty much an exact replica of the
Ibanez
PGM300 model. Only difference is that I want it to be in Desert Yellow with Black F-holes.

Re: Custom guitar...
This is something I never understand. People go "custom" and pay out the butt to get a guitar that's literally a production model Ibanez with a different paintjob. Why not try to do something original and make a guitar that's truly your own? You can certainly borrow aspects that you like, but replica guitars with a different paint color?
That said, the whole custom thing is a to each his own thing, and no one understands that more than me. I'd advise you go with a local luthier if you can find one in your area. Saved me a lot of potential headaches.

If that's what you want than I would suggest just getting a PGM300 and getting it refinished. I don't know of any reputable builders in the States that will make an exact copy of an Ibanez, especially if you want it to have "Ibanez" on the headstock.

Re: Custom guitar...
couldnt you get a normal RG and just paint it differently? Isnt a PGM basically just an RG with painted on F holes?

The volume control and switch need to line up with the F holes and I don't know how easily, if at all, that could be done on a run-of-the-mill RG.

Re: Custom guitar...
Buy a used 300 and have it painted. Not only will that be cheaper, but will accurate.
