Its an epidemic. I've had this idea for a long time, although I know they'd never do it. It could easily get out of hand and it would have to be moderated for content. Have a link button on the auction page, where the "ask seller a question, see other auctions" etc. are. The link is called "see comments." You then go to a screen not unlike the feedback section, but where you could make one or two line comments about the auction. Ebay would be more self-policing that way. You could say, "Scam seller from indonesia-doesn't even own guitar, stole pics from website" or you could say "neither guitar nor hardware are japanese." or "seller says mint condition, but I can see headstock cracks by the
lock nut bolts" But you could also say "I own one of these, and I love it" or "very reasonable Buy It Now price-I've seen them go for much more." You'd have to be registered, and they could even limit it to people with a certain amount of positive feedback, or a certain ratio of positive to negative, and exclude new members. Then the seller could also answer back. It would replace a lot of the back and forth e-mailing, too if you could just ask your questions publicly.
