Don't understand some of the members on the board...
They'll gladly pay money to guitar dealers and guitar brokers, but when a Regular Joe is selling something, you think that if he asks more money for it than he paid for it, that he is ripping people off. I of course am referring to the following post:
http://www.jemsite.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=24643
Whenever you guys buy a piece of new or used equipment, you are paying HUNDREDS of dollars more than what the dealer paid for it, so I hardly think that if a non-dealer asks for a litle more than he paid that it would constitute a rip-off. Just my opinion..

If you think 4 times is a little more then I'd be very happy to overcharge you a "little" more than everybody else
[I felt guilty the last time I sold one for $50]

I certainly would not take issue with anything other than the fact he was playing the victim. Stating that he didn't want to get ripped off and didn't know what they went for. He did, he bought one. And I offered to buy it off of him, plain and simple.

That was only the most recent example, as I meant it as more of a general issue. I've seen it plenty of times before on other items. Personally, I'm not familiar with the trem stabilizer so I don't know what it's worth.

What I don't understand is the members that are just as much "in the buisness" as I am, that freely use the classifieds without paying the site for the priviledge [which is the rule] and get away with it because they have another source of income besides their guitar dealings

I remember one specific example of a guy wanting $7000 for a mint LNG. He did not have anything to compare it to, and was heckled. Dollar for dollar, that was less mark-up than the trem stabilizer. From over-priced merchandise, to items returned to the seller because they were not what they were claimed to be, it is just a buyer beware deal. I would still pay more for the trem stabilizer, if it were mint. As far as that item is concerned, my offer stands. That is informed consumership, nothing more.

Well this is getting off track now, as I was only referring to regular guys who buy, try, and maybe sell if they don't want to keep something.

And Evil, I was not singling you or anyone out, like I said, I just meant in general.

Here I thought we were talking about profit oriented threads in the classified section

We were. You referred to people "in the business", and I was stating that I was referring to everyday Joes.

And again I said that the referenced post was only an example, and that I was referring to the topic in a general sense.

I can agree on that one for sure. What that post did was remind me of other instances, which I probably should've stated sooner.
