Yeh its been months since I heard from ET. I know hes a standup guy so hes not purposely avoiding people like
Chris Woods
, but he needs to take abit less orders so he can finish older orders.

That does make me feel better Nick. Sometimes with these guitar builders I just wish they would just say "Hey, I havent started your project yet," rather than giving false time tables or not responding at all.
Granted, I dont want the guys building my guitar to be answering emails all day, but if your website says something like "Back orders are caught up and we are taking more orders under reasonable turn around time" then that is what I expect. Nothing more or nothing less than my deposit deserves.
I want the guitar of my dreams, and I am not unwilling to wait the required time. BUT! If you cant make a timeline, say so ya..know!? I think that if you paid them money, you deserve at least one email update PER MONTH
I dont want promises of pics or proposed ship dates when they are not real. Keep it real! I'll be cool if you deal straight!! I have tons of respect for craftsman who have the talent to build these awesome guitars. However, most end up having trouble maintaining the business end.
Some talented builders end up over their heads/ in too deep. I am hopeful that ET will deliver soon. From the feedback I have seen, his stuff is damn near excuisite!

I heard from ET. Things are progressing. That should tide me over for a while.

Re: ET Guitars - New Vendor OFFICIAL THREAD
I must have somehow gotten on Ernie's bad side. I ordered a new guitar from him in April of last year, after reading reviews and people saying that he was a good person to deal with. I sent him my deposit and to be fair, he's always responded to my emails until recently. I emailed him in the beginning of December and he said things were coming along. Mind you, I'd not emailed him in 3-4 months. And at that time, I'd gotten a similar reply, things were good, everything was OK, still moving forward. I've yet to receive a single picture from him showing what the guitar's current status is. So I emailed him in December, same thing as usual, all was well, should have some pics for me soon.
So I waited the rest of December and got nothing back from him. So I emailed him again in January of this year and have yet to hear anything.
Now I'm a patient guy. I've nooooooooo problems waiting for a great
custom guitar
. I also have NOTHING against Ernie at all. I hope he's just really busy with things and that business is booming. I paid my $500 deposit wayyyyyyyy back when the project started. All that I ask in return is a prompt response to my questions, which he's given me up until December and some pictures, which he's never given me.
I picked a swirled Jem-type thing for my first venture with him and maybe I picked some bad colors. Maybe it doesn't look good at all... I dunno, but if that's the case, no problem, like I said, I'm patient. And I'm not the type of guy to continually ask someone week after week for updates. I trust that he's working on it, I've got other things to do, so does he, no biggie... But for the love of all that is holy Ernie, if you're reading this, I love your work man, just want to know what's up with my guitar... hell, if it's not finished yet, I'm not going to cry over it, just lemme know where it's at in production...
Thanks and rant over.......

... (I will try it with my veeery bad english. so I hope that you can understand me.
)
I think that all people that make an order from ET, they must wait a long time. me too. I waited a long time for get my neck (more time than you), and I made an order for two necks. also, two months ago, I made an order about two new guitars.
I supose that they will take a very long time. I must be patient. there is nothing more that I can do. of course, I prefer he works on my stuff quickly. but I hope that he says me real dates of finished my stuff and not with false promises (pleeeease Ernie!). And
Phineas
rightly says, would be great recieve a contact from time to time to check how things go... and if it's possible, with pics.
buuut, other vendors are even more sloooow
and inaccurate with delivery times, and his work is not the best
, as you can check here in jemsite, and I could see for myself.
as I can see on the pics that Ernie sent me by email, the neck looks awesome! I never have been a quality neck better than this one. I'm impressed
. I hope that the neck is as well done as seen in the photos
.
About my other neck and my two guitars... of course I will wait, but I am looking forward that he finish the second neck and He start with my guitars.
so...
PATIENCE
.
and you don't worry that you will get your guitar, and I am sure that Ernie will do it the best... or I hope so.
Dani.

Sums up what many of us have said Orb. In reference to my post, all I would need to stay patient is an UNSOLICITED email. I kinda felt bad having to email him again for an update (1 per month after waiting 4 months without any word). Felt like I was bugging him LOL!
I am a straight shooter who doesnt waste people's time. I expect the same. If it isnt done, say it. Havent got to it yet, say it. I guess you cant get pics of something that hasnt been done yet LOL. Your deposit should grant you (us) a level of customer service above and beyond the typical project inquiries that I am sure he gets.
April is a long time. There should be no other response but if it is being worked on or if its not at the present time. You are definitely NOT unreasonable to expect it.
I'll let you know when I see my first pic. Please do the same for us "waiters" too!

Re: ET Guitars - New Vendor OFFICIAL THREAD
Until Nov-09 Ernied had some iussues to fix up. in fact, he posted on his website that you had at least 4-6 month waiting. I can assure you he will do a great job, but expect at least 12-14 months of wait. You have to get used to.

Re: ET Guitars - New Vendor OFFICIAL THREAD
Thanks guys for the advice, it's appreciated! I just went back through my emails to him and my project started (according to Ernie) 1/22/09. Then it was April that I'd emailed him, then I left him alone from April - December 09 when I emailed again.
Once more, not trying to kick dirt in his eye, disparage him or make it seem like he's slacking. Just want to get this off my chest a bit and vent, ya know? Hope he's doing well, hope everyone's projects are coming along nicely and yes I will DEFINITELY post pics as soon as I get them.
Till then, just more of the waiting game..............

Re: ET Guitars - New Vendor OFFICIAL THREAD
Ernie, you rule. End of story.
Just got a reply back from him, got the pics as well. As I said, mine is a Jem/Swirl Type thing. I opted for these colors and opted to have direct mount H/H pickups instead of the Jem's traditional H/S/H.
Here's a preview, still deciding on the neck... My original plan was Ebony with either neon-blue vine inlay or chrome vine inlay, depending on how the body came out. Seeing the body now, I think blue's definitely the way to go, only trouble is, debating on whether Ebony or Maple... hmmmmmmmmmmmm...
