evilbay

Does everyone just *give* sellers good reviews after their transactions?

I bought an amp wednesday from a seller that had "fast shipping!" and as of today (saturday) it still hasn't shipped, afaik. the seller hasn't responded to my emails since thursday.

i'm not worried, i can get the charges cancelled, i just wonder if people just dole out those rave reviews on autopilot, or what?

Re: evilbay

I normally just give a stock reply unless something arrives really quickly or is better than anticiapted then I do the 'fantastic item...' spiel.

Re: evilbay

If the item shows up as described, then I leave a positive. However, if the shipping is really slow, I still leave a positive, but comment on the slow shipping.

I think negative feedback is really only warranted if the item is not as described or does not show up at all, and the seller refuses to correct it.

YMMV

I'm just saying wtf, because all this guy's feedback is glowing, and as far as i know my amp hasn't even shipped yet, since he hasn't returned emails for 3 days.

What I hate is when they dont leave you buyers feedback til after you leave feedback for them. Like trying to keep you from giving bad feedback.

Always bugs me.

The guy at music-outlet-shop is terrible for that. I took a look at his feedback and he totally flames anyone that says a bad thing. Even if the buyer left neutral or even positive feedback!

Well, £385 shipped, but it's still extortionate.

Re: evilbay

That is also true. It's a shame really because they sometimes have some pretty nice hard to find stuff, but don't they know it.

Mind you, they often have some pretty ugly stuff too. Some things just should have stayed in the 80s!

That is happening more and more - it pees me off. As the buyer I have completed my side of the deal by making payment. The seller should leave +ve feedback straight away !!! I know I do when I sell something

Re: evilbay

Exactly. Why there isn't a punishment for not giving feedback after taking payment is beyond me. I really think it'd help prevent so many people from getting ripped off because that way the buyer can give an honest description of the service they received.

I disagree. As a seller, the deal is only complete when the buyer has received and is happy with the goods. Easiest way to let me know that is positive feedback, which you'll get from me in response for your fast payment. You don't let me know you're happy, the deal's not complete, feedback is not left. Simple.

But if someone has paid then their half of the transaction is complete. It's up to the seller to follow up on that feedback if it turns out that the buyer is being a pain in the arse once they receive the goods.

If you want to know when the goods arrive, A) send it with a tracking number or B) ask them to e-mail you when it arrives.

I'm sure there are more ways of going around it than that. It's just a crafty-arse way of making sure a seller keeps 100% feedback so it makes it easier to rip off another poor victim.

Re: evilbay

Buyer takes the MAJORITY of the risk on any internet / auction deal. Buyer is the one that sends money on faith that not only they will receive what they paid for, but receive the quality / condition described. If the seller doesn't leave feedback when the buyer pays he's doing it for an ulterior motive.
