I think it's a real FP - too many things are right for a fake.
Still, wouldn't buy it without seeing some decent pics so ask the seller to email you some proper pics.

And I guess there would have been a code in the neck bolts area

Hi, I am considering buying a sz720fm from a private party local too me.
My question is, has anybody heard of fakes of this model?

I havnt seen this guitar yet so I dont know serial # but I should be seeing it this weekend.

What should I keep an eye out for?

Also wanted to ask. I'm about to get my first JEM, my first Ibanez too actually. I was thinking of a JEM77V BK or a JEM7V WH. Not sure yet (I'm pretty aware that they're quite different ). What should I look for to know its its a imitation or not since I'm pretty new and inexperienced?

It is stated that it is a new JEM 7VWH, but I am missing a truss rod cover, a serial number on the back of the headstock. So am I right when stating that this is a chibanez?

Well I confronted the seller and the ad has been changed. Apparently he assembled this guitar and since he thought everyone could see that it was fake decided not to mention it in the first place.

Found this today on my local craigslist. http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/msg/876401795.html . Assuming that link won't last long, the ad links to another page, http://www.ioffer.com/i/IBANEZ-JEM-7...-USA--76745416 .

There are numerous other Ibanez's on that site that look very suspicious. Angle and placement of the Ibanez logo's, the tuning pegs, the Edge trem, the screw in bar, trem on the black one, knob placement on the black one....

Counterfeits like these are very easy to spot.
