If it's a fake chibanez does that mean in reality it's actually a genuine Jem posing as a chinese copy? If so I'll buy 10

To be honest if the guy is selling it as a fake, er I mean replica, he's not exactly setting out to fleece the innocent buyer is he? I'm sure Ibanez may have something to say about it, but again in reality the punter who would buy one of these £150 guitars is not really going to buy a real Jem @ £1200 is he?

Nah dude, if you read 3bay policy, stating that something is a replica does not give you the licence to sell it. Its as bad as trying to hide the fact...

Hi friends, I need a little advise before buying. a man is selling a "JEM 7V prestige" (???) and the price is high! So before spending money in something fake or else, may you would help me?

Hey guys, I'm looking at this JEM555 - http://tinyurl.com/8mffvd

£550 seems like a decent price but I get the feeling he's trying to offload a fake. He quotes specs from the website but they say it's an Edge II bridge when the serial no. seems to suggest it was made in '06 which I think should be Edge III bridges. Also, the website currently specs JEM555's as Edge III's which makes me think he's used old info from the Ibanez site which seems to suggest he didn't get it off the site as he was creating the listing but might have copied it from another listing.

My main issue is the serial no. stamp (attached to post)

None of the pics I've seen of the serial stamp on a 555 have the CE logo in a square box. All the pics I've seen have a curved line.

No other alarm bells ring. Good feedback on guitar stuff. Maybe he's passing on a fake without knowing it?

Time is important here as there's only 24 hours until the auction ends.

What do you think? Fake or real?

he's selling it for $950, which looks like a phenomenal deal, but it doesnt make sense...

it looks like its a repost of a previous attempted craigslist sale, previously for $1,000. Price is low enough to entice bids on the messed up guitar (to at least HAVE a JEM), but not if the thing is fake.. Plus, its pretty obvious that if you do any legitimate research on these guys that you can get more than than in an auction....

can a pro help out?

Hey, I was wondering if someone could take a look at this **** Item: 380113940334

He obviously does not know that these guitars were only made from 91 to 94, but the serial number shown starts with 91 so i'm guessing it would be a 1991 model.

The guys got good feedback though, so I don't know.. I really do not know how to identify if these are fake or real, so any help would be appreciated.
