Indonesia is a hotbed of credit card fraud....whether it directly connects to guitars I know not...

damn, i'm glad i found this out now. this guy transfered $2100 for the guitar, shipping 2nd day, and EXTRA money for my time. he's from indonesia. hey if it's a stolen #, what does he care if he gives me an extra $400. i think this is BS. i told him i would ship it out right away but i'm going to sit on it. he gave me a line where i have to hurry since he is going out of town in 4 days.....
translated???..... send me the guitar before the bank pulls the funds from you.
something isn't right here. maybe he is legit. i remember dealing with him before. he wanted my DNA really bad when i was selling it and he kept asking me / begging me to take credit cards since that is the only way he can pay. i responded and kept telling him no. he kept asking and then finally disappeared.
i think i will email other **** members to see if they have been asked by this guy....jem sellers.....if so, there is my answer.
i read that paypal, which he used, will NOT create accounts for international. hmmmmm

This has been going on for a couple of years....
This is not to say that all transactions will end up badly, but because of a few crooks, a majority of sellers will not even consider selling an item to a bidder in Indonesia.

yeah you're right dude but i just found that this guy is a con. i just got a copy of his identical email sent to me begging for jems and that he is a store owner, etc etc. from a couple of other jem sellers.
it is unfortunate that some bad rocks kill it for others but in this case it is really a bad rock. what is up with people man?

I've been over this before myself. Its a scam and eventhough you might get the money, you'll be getting a knock sooner or later asking for it back cause its stolen.
I wouldn't send the guitar, and even if you get the money, there is nothing saying they won't come knocking in a couple weeks once someone has realized their card is gone and being charged on and it will all come back to you.

Sorry to hear that Shredmaster, It doesn't seem right that it should come back on you if it turns out to be a stolen card. You were just making a legitimate sale. As far as international paypal, I have received a paypal payment from someone in the UK before.

Be very polite and ask him for the phone number on the back of the card or call visa if thats what the card is and ask if it is stolen they would be more than happy to tell you if it was also ask them if the amount that he wants to charge is typical of that cards pattern be sure to ask that way as it leaves them open to answer your question with out breaking any rules .
Alway be careful in that situation and if it feels like a duck 9 times out of ten it's a damn duck lmao ! but still serious
Darren
P. S. if it is a stolen card that will be the last you here from him if not then there's a good chance he's on the money or just a ballsy "fraud artist "
Good luck
Darren

thanks guys, i'll let you know. i know that after looking at paypal's site, indonesia is not an authorized country. i'm wondering if he stole the card from some american or tourist or some country that will allow it. it's all too easy to setup a bogus account as someone else. i feel bad if he's legit and he really needs this item in a couple days but i can't take that chance and you are right...they will come knocking for the money and then where would i be?

They always want everything FAST. They always want it insured for $100 so they don't pay import duty. They always F*uck you in the end.
It's not a stolen credit card, it's a stolen credit card NUMBER. Most of them are drawn on Australian banks.

that's what i was thinkin' Rich. just got a few more emails from this guy beggin' me. i did what Darren had suggested and now i wait. gonna try calling paypal now as well. this is ridiculous. by some fluke i decided to check out other auctions and i saw this one guy sellin' an ESP george lynch and he states....I WILL NOT SELL TO INDONESIA. the red flag of course flew high for me then....why? what's wrong with them? so the research began; i was clueless. and here i am in a dilemna. the money should hit my bank in a few days but that doesn't mean paypal will snag it from me.
OK just got off the phone with paypal and they said DON'T DO IT. all i have to do is wait for the money to hit my account at the bank and then simple click refund on my paypal account and it will go back to wherever it came from. hopefully it will be that easy. i'm sure it will be.

You had to have your head pretty deep in the sand to miss this. It's been going strong for 4 years, there have been articles about it in every major guitar rag, every other **** add says "NO INDONESEAN BIDDERS", and I've done my share of bitching here about the $2000 they stung me for. Where the hell ya been?!?!

I'll bet there trying to pull one over on you. I get alot of similar responses from Korea also. A year ago I was selling some of the old orignal TS 808 pedals. I had my second pedal on Evilbay and the reserve was just met at auction end. The winner had 0 feedback and was from Korea. I will not deal with low or zero feedback or international bidders was stated in the auction. I emailed him saying he was in violation for bidding but gave him the option to get the pedal if he could come up with payment within 24 hours and a whole bunch of other information I had requested from him. The only thing that came up was that he wanted to pay by credit card. I said fine, we'll do Paypal international. He says he's not allowed to use Paypal or Bidpay and that I must come up with a credit card machine to charge the damn thing to. He asks me to go check with my family and friends and see if they have a machine. Then he has the nerve to notice in my auction listing that I was comparing this pedal to another I had. He then says he'll give me $900 for two pedals. I gave up on him after he asked me to find a charge machine but wanting to rip me off for another pedal was really pathetic. If I find his orignal emails I'll copy them here. They are hilarious
