guitar tech


ive recently decided id like to be a guitar tech im in the marines and im aready a mechanic with a limited electrical background however im looking to go to school for and actual tech education or even do an apernticship i dont even know where to start can someone give me some advice

Hey John, go to google and do a search for guitar luthier school and you will get a bunch of hits. I would recommend getting a book or two and visiting some of the luthiery sites to get your foot in the door and start to "learn the lingo" before heading to a school. GI Bill should definitely pay for the school.

Awsome, being a Guitar Tech would be awsome!

I hate the Techs at Long and Mcquade tho, they take like 5 days to install pickups cuz they are always on "Vacation" or some other bull crap like that.

This is all good advice, especially the going to school part. I'd also try and find a builder where you can apprentice after graduation before simply starting out on your own. My tech spent 11 years at Sadowsky before opening his own place, and the work he does is insane.
