Question

Help me choose an Ibanez!

I need help choosing a new guitar, and I want it to be an Ibanez. Im looking to play metal (Darkest Hour, Misery Signals, Between the Buried and Me) so i need it to be heavy. I don't know how much of a differance these differant guitars will make, but you guys know better than I do!

I've been looking on the Ibanez Rules site and came across these -

http://www.ibanezrules.com/images/used_index/jcrgtRGT? - What the
model number is I don't know but I'm sure somebody will write to say "hey
stupid, it's an RGT1220!" or similar. Whatever the number it's simply a plain
Jane J Custom neck thru workhorse. It does have quite a few edge chips which
aren't glaring since it's not a stained finish and they could be "hidden" with a
coat of super glue. There's a 5mm edge chip on the front edge of the inside of
the lower horn, a 3mm chip on the edge south of the tone knob, an 8x5mm chip
that wraps the edge by the output and another 3mm of the side close by with a
chip on the jack edge, and another 3mm chip on the edge of the arm contour.
There are 2 back edge chips, a 3mm near the jack and a 5x3mm behind the arm
contour. There's a 2mm ding on the back of the neck at the 9th treble side,
pipmling on the bass side of the trem, and light fretwear. Back of neck is
factory de-glossed like an RG4. In a clean M200 case. This was supposed to be in
much better condition AND I got caught in a lull in the currency exchange, both
combine to create a no profit situation. AS IS at cost.** $1200**
[url]http://www.ibanezrules.com/images/used_index/jcs[/urlJCS - If you like
S models it doesn't get much better than these neck thru J Customs. Since the
gold patted pattern is different on each of these it's tough to tell how much
has worn in the pick scratch area but I assume some has. Otherwise the face is
very clean. There's a 5mm scuff on the top edge, and a 3mm ding also on the
side. There's a couple small 2mm back edge dings and a short finish crack next
to them, but cliplock strap rash on the back side of the upper horn, one of the
many reasons I hate clip locks. The strap is installed under the Gotoh locks
ends. Because this was sold at Sam Ash it came in uncased and without the other
half of the Gotoh locks. In SKB case.** $1400**

- Mint minus, for the 3 finish cracks on and near the tip of the headstock and a
few light wiping scratches, otherwise this 2680 is super clean and has a sweet
flame top and head. MAPLE fretboard, Lo Pro and Dimarzio's [probable PAF's].
The serial number gives away it's J Custom shop build even though it's badged
Prestige. In best gig bag.** $1575**

http://www.ibanezrules.com/images/us...ex/rg2120kkb_4RG2120KKB - This guitar would be Near Dead Mint except for the cosmo wear on the trem,
otherwise only the most minimal signs of use are evident. Nice fine line broken
flame Koa top.
These are faked 4mm tops that are actually 1mm thick. In new "Freedom" molded case.** $1400**

Which one of these would you guys recommend? Or something else? Thanks for the help, this is a great community!

I play a jem, and I play a ****load of metal. Your playing is a lot bigger of a factor in your sound than your guitar. Just make sure you have some decent pickups and you're eq'ing your amp right, you should be able to get any sort of tone you want.

I play a Jem for metal, but from what you listed, it sounds like you would prefer a mahogany bodied guitar. I'll second the RG2680MDBK.
