Help with **** auction - good deal?

I'm new to Ibanez guitars. I've played Carvins and Gibsons forever but am recently interested in getting an Ibanez.

I was sent a second chance offer on an Ibanez I was looking at on ****. I am wondering now if the deal is that good though.

Here is the Item number: 180055241742.

In the description the seller says he is unsure of the model of the guitar. It looks like it is a 450s. However, did they even come in that color that year? I looked at the '91 and '92 catalogs and didn't notice the yellow offered on this model.

He wants $310.

Is it worth it? Any problems you guys can see? Good deal or not? What do you think it is going to take to clean up those pups? Little leary of what he means by the electronics needing "cleaing up".

I was thinking of getting this guitar for a fun beater. For Christmas I'm supposed to pick out a guitar I want and I'm having a tough time deciding between an American Strat Deluxe and the Ibanez s2170fb. At this price, if it is a decent guitar, then I could get both. I'd buy this Ibanez and the Strat would be a gift. Oh, I know...problems, problems, problems.

Plus I love the old Ibanez guitars from the early '90s. Reminds me of when I was taking lessons as a kid. I would drool over the guitars in the music store as I waited for my teacher to come get me. They carried a lot of Ibanez.

Thank you for all your help.

Nothing wrong with it, edge, good condition, looks like a good deal

Id just buy some proper dimarzios for it. There isnt much you can do for rusty pickups.

BUT, as a precaution, I dont take any second chance offers, wait for him to relist it or you can get jipped.

Never take a second chance offer, it's 99.999% likely it's a scam. Does the second chance offer have your name and evilbay id at the top? If it just has your evilbay id, it's 100% a scam.

It was definitely a scam. I didn't even look at my evilbay account. I was just working off the email I received. But there is no offer in my evilbay messages. Wow...I almost got taken.

How could I have been so dense?

Thank you. You saved me a lot of hassle. I think I'm just going to get the new Ibanez for Christmas.

And I'm going to forward that fake email to evilbay.

This is why I never buy on there and only sell.

Thank you.

I've bought several things off evilbay but there are many things to know to not get burned and there is still a possibility you will.

You almost got taken but you weren't that dense because you posted here and we set you straight.

Unfortunately, forwarding that email to evilbay will amount to nothing. They just rake in the money and don't have any genuine concern about counterfeit items or people getting scammed.

Good luck with the new guitar.

Re: Help with **** auction - good deal?

That's pretty clever of the scammer- people almost always expect these kinds of scams with "big fish" items like JEMs, PRSes, and whatnot. Nobody expects that a scammer would bother with $300 guitars, but then again $300 is still $300. No auction is safe...
