HOW DO I KNOW MY JEM IS REAL?

Hi people,

I am about to buy a Jem777DY, it's in excellent condition, I thought the paint work on these faded, but this looks like it's out of the factory (apart from the odd ding here and there).

The back of the headstock is blank, just wood,with nothing printed on it etc. Should there be something stamped on there or something?

Old jems have the serial on the neck plate, so no there shouldn't be anything on the back of the headstock.

Post some pics up here using something like photobucket and we'll tell you. Failing that, tell us the auction/advert you saw it on

Thanks, that actually helps alot as the guitar salesman reckons it's an 88 original....it's in a London guitar shop at the moment,way over priced though....

Hold on..... just got off the phone with the guy...the serial number is 916928, "made in japan" at the bottom

Is this normal for an 88 Jem?

Nope, that's an 1991 model.

It's most likely a 91 model. The first two digits on the old serial numbers where the year built.

1. Find somewhere to host the pics like Photobucket.com

2. Get the URL

3. In the forums type [img]INSERTURL[/img] and put your URL where it says INSERTURL

It's not as hard as it seems!
