How much would you pay for a Squier Strat?

I'm currently on the lookout for a nice early Korean/Japanese Squier Strat (preferably white with rosewood fretboard if anyone has got one BTW) and stumbled upon this on the 'bay:

Now I know that JV's are well sort after and usually go for much more than your usual Squier, but am I the only one that thinks that pricetag is stupid?

the bay is getting worse and worse these days it's just full of knob heads listing half decent guitars for stupid money...

....think I may list my Silver Series Squire for £998 with a Buy It Now of £999

It's bloody ridiculous, you'd just buy it!

Well brand new around here Squires Strats start from $300 (i think)

Personally i wouldn't pay anything over $800 for a Squire Strat

That's the whole point though!

You're looking for that type of guitar. You see that auction and you're tempted to bid (as that's the guitar you're after) and the "buy it now" draws you in and stops you walking away. Job done

What's the point in putting a bid price then?

I can understand bidding starting at £70-80 with a buy it now of £125, but a fiver less? surely nobody is THAT stingey about postage (though there are a couple, lol.)
