Ibanez Cosmic Swirl - 5000$ ?!?

As I highly enjoy these USGR guitars and search for one, I couldn't believe my eyes when I encountered with this one (on the bay):

290197057669

5k or best offer? WTF?
Sure, these are rare and cool, but... Tell me the price is waaaaay too high...

Without being rude, that's a huge ripoff.

2K or best offer is still high IMHO, but at least it's sensible.

It's worth what you pay for it.
USCG are obviously going to fetch a higher price as there aren't that many, but $5K?! Yeesh. Or is this guy thinking that the dollar has dropped that much?
Whatever, he won't get it...
How do people decide on prices like this?

Yeah saw this as well. If you look at the seller hes a comic shop, this exsplaines everything! They are scalpers by heart, he thinks because some artest (whom I never heard of) paint it that must be priceless. Now if he were dead that would be diffrent (Donnie).

Added: Also he says 9/10, more like 7/10. I see some marks and he is using odd camra angles.

I think that if we knew the production #s for each USCG then there would besome type of guidelines as to which ones are the rarest... mabye that would give us something to work with. This guy claims Dan says only 11 were made..if that's true then almost half of them (5) are on the Ibanez register..hmmmm

You'd think Ibanez would release that info, but for some reason, they're tight-lipped about production totals. What is it they think they'd lose out on by not disclosing the #s?

That price is insane.
And anyone who pay that much for this is also insane.
IMO, of course

Awesome guitar though- i'd consider it if the price was about a third of that.
peace

Re: Ibanez Cosmic Swirl - 5000$ ?!?

I think the high price was just an attention getter. He was accepting offers as well. Naturally, Ko made an offer. Auction page says it was declined. Jeeze - that guy's like a USAC vacuum cleaner. I'd be willing to bet that he ended up with it anyway.

Fair selling price for that should be around $1,500, though I can see it going as high as $2,000-$2,200 for the right buyer.
